Re: The Project Havoc....
For the gas tank vent, just do it similar to a stock blazer tank. Except instead of it being tied into the fill neck at the top, just use a small crankcase filter mounted under he cover where your filler is. You can use some 3/8" hard brake line or hose zip tied to the fill tube. Get a bulkhead connector to go through the tank wall next to the fill line.
I hear you on the motivation issues. First off, I remember the days from when my kids were little. The wife needs attention or simply a break. They are too small to leave to themselves. But for me lately, its just that I don't have the same feeling deep inside for the Jimmy. It's a cool project, but doesn't have the personal history my C-10 did. I just have a few details to finish up my C-10, I put so much into that project the last 2 years to get it where I always wanted it to be. The drive is just not there for the Jimmy. In a way, it's better now. The C-10 was all consuming and added stress to me and my wife. Now I work on the Jimmy when I feel like it and it doesn't really bother me if progress is slow. You did recently finish a top notch camaro project that took a lot out of you. It's understandable to have waning interest for a time for another camaro project that is way worse than the last one and having a young family that needs you. I'm betting most of the people on this board couldn't care less what you are working on. They just like to see anything done by someone that knows what the hell they are doing and take what we can from it for ideas, motivation or just entertainment. |

Re: The Project Havoc....
Looks like they were having some fun. That is some serious prairie up there. I thought it was flat here until I saw that. Why bother with roads, just point the vehicle in the direction you need to go and hit the gas.

Since I can not work on Swiss cheese or havoc right now because my Silverado is in the garage in pieces I thought I may as well show you guys what I have done to it. Ok, first off, last week I was driving home and heard this crunch crunch noise under my truck, instantly knew it was the trans, so I got it home. My cuz Luke use to own this truck and He had the trans rebuilt with a full slew of performance parts 70000kms ago. Well this is not right I thought that it blew right away. So I contacted the trans shop on this matter and said NO WARRANTY, period and laughed that it blew already!! WHAT!!!!!!!!!!! So i picked up a used trans to put in it, with hopes of rebuilding the other one. well I contacted a friend at a trans shop here Trevor and he said he would help me out with the trans and do it for a decent price. Ok, done, brought it in and I told him the story on the trans, hope there is some useable good aftermarket parts in it still. HA HA HA HA . He phoned me as said the trans was BONE STOCK!!! Ok then. He could not believe that the other place said it was a performance tranny, nothing was aftermarket, needless to say, the trans is now fully built, Corvette servo, boost valve, better pump, the beast sunshell, more clutches, shift kit....... It will handle the power, towing and big tires. I just want to say thanks to Trevor @ TREVOR'S TRANSMISSION!!!!! you were awesome! Trans is done and I have to put it in tomorrow nite now.

Since she was in the shop I figured I may as well do a little service to her, changed the oil, with the only oil to use, AMSOIL!, cleaned the interior, have to clean the air filter yet and put on some mudflaps!! HILLBILLY STYLE!!! I must be going back to my country roots or something cause I love these, I had some belting laying around, aluminum, rivets and chain< and VOILA! out came these wonderful things. Now all I need to do is put 2' whip antennas on the box and cab lights and I am rocking OL' SCHOOL in this thing. Ahhhhh brings back memories. kinda a bit of a change of my high dollar builds, this thing is my work truck and my redneck pride!!! thanks LUKE! hehe

Couple more pics, And a few of the custom grille on the truck that between me and luke built, he made the insert and cut the factory grille down, I cleaned it all up and molded the grill bars together then powder coated the insert and painted the grille!

Re: The Project Havoc....
Transmission guys always scare me. It's so hard to verify that they have done what they say they have done.

Hope your trans holds up this time; had the "beast" sunshell in mine poop after 42000 kiliks (2000 past warranty lol), only the second time Mels heard of this happening in his 12 years as shop owner.
