Any more info on the wheels? Steel or aluminum? Manufacturer?

Every time I see your truck I am curious about the black along the bottom and the shiny rockers. Is it unfinished rust repair or are you going for a new look.

This thread is so old I actually have new wheels. I bought the US Mag Boulevard in 20"x8". I like them alot!!

Re: 60-66 Tire/Wheel Pics

The wheels are aluminum from American Racing, I had the rear ones custom built for my 65 Chevelle, however I got too greedy even minitubbed they were just too close for comfort, so to match, I had the front ones done, with the backspace I wanted they became custom also….

The black rocker bottoms I figured the same as you when I purchased the truck, however when I got it on a lift, I found no rust, the stainless piece is just a trim piece The previous owner had a metal shop, all the stainless stuff he made is 14ga, he did a great job and I like the look so I am keeping all of his work intact.

Are those 6 lug or did you convert it to 5?

Re: 60-66 Tire/Wheel Pics

I converted everything to 5 43/4, I had a full set of 15x8 vette ralleys I was gonna use till I decided to go this route. The truck will never be a heavy hauler, so the smaller pattern will be fine, I didnt buy anyones kit, just got the correct rotors and bearing sets and did it much cheaper, even used the stock spindle, the front suspension is from an 86, coilovers all 4 corners. Built all the rear mounts and used a POL lower Arm, built my own upper mount…

Thanks for the reply. I've been looking @ some vette Ralleys for my g-body Malibu. It's getting a brake upgrade (F/R LS1 f-body 12" discs) so I need to go larger diameter on the wheels. I looked @ AR's version but it's mostly the 18" size in posted images & it seems when they get to the 18" diameter the cooling slots start looking cartoonish in size. Those 17's look 'correct' vs the 18's. Should be a little lighter than the steel Wheel Vintiques option. Definitely will make my wallet a little lighter
:waah:

They are six lug. I did install longer wheel studs too.

I like the stance of your truck!

What tire sizes are you running and are you on the stock inner fenders up front? I assume with a 17x10 that the rear tubs are widened? How is the truck lowered and how much?

I just put new wheels and tires on my '64. They are Rev 107 18x9s with 255/60/18s on front and 285/60/18s on back. I love them!

The tires are 305/45/17 in the rear and245/45/17 front, wish I had little bigger in front, but I already had them. The inner fenders are stock up front and the rear tubs are 11 1/2 “ from the carpet on the side to the outer edge, I measured some stock ones I have and they are 11”. The truck sits on coilovers front and rear, so guessing about 6” lower in the back and 4” in the front….Thanks for the kind words…

MT65 or Verdell..... Any chance that either one of you has any pics showing the back-side of those wheels?

A.R. wheel distributors won't provide dimensions or images to make an educated decision as far as big brake packages go. I'd like to see the back side of one of those wheels to see what there is to deal with.

Had these off yesterday, perfect timing..hope this helps
The AR people that answered the phone are NOT fun to deal with…before he retired I had a direct number to a guy at the plant where they were made, worked great…..those that you’re having to deal with suck…

Thank you very much for taking the time to get those pics. They confirmed my guess about the need to reinforce/web the spoke areas vs. a steel wheel.

That webbing is what interferes w/big brake calipers which is why spacers are required for clearance.

The rear wheels, the ones in the pictures do have a spacer and fit over 4 piston wilwoods, the front ones have no spacer and are over the large piston GM caliper which I think are larger interference wise than the Wilwood…

Well, technically I'm referencing things specific to a different application. I feel the large D52 GM caliper/12" rotor combo works well for C10's.

I actually wanted to use the VN327's on my g-body Malibu that will be getting a budget GM based late model 2-piston caliper set-up (C6 base caliper w/Z51 13.4" rotor. No go w/o spacing them @ least 1/2". I have zero interest cobbling things together just to clear. It's a similar issue using the Torq Thrusts.
