Hold on... you're an expert mechanic, metal worker, painter, pinstriper, woodworker AND you're a greaser?

no doubt about it, you must be The Fonz! :)

excellent work Kees, I tried to call you last week to come and see your truck, perhaps this weekend?

When I started at the top of the page and started scrolling down to see the updates, I was thinking about your pinstriping art. Little did I know we would get to see some. Very nice work Kees! You are really talented.
Thanks Doug, if you want to see more art you have to look at my Facebook page...;)

No, I'm not The Fonz :lol::lol: I wish ;)
Just a busy Rocker :metal:

I did get a call with an unknown number, didn't took the time to look who it was, sorry! Think it was you then?
This weekend is not gonna work, Saturday I'm off to Rockin' Jalopy's in Rosmalen, Indoor Hot Rod show and oldtimer swapmeet, you should go!
Sunday is going to be a very bad day for me, I know already....
We have to meet another time!

Hi Cees

I think I'm heading down there tomorrow morning.
Not in the truck though... had the inspection today.. was a real success in that it only failed on two things! Sealed beam headlights not allowed and one poor brake. Sounds like that's the common faults for apaches! Easy fix..
I've tried a few shows over here, but haven't found anything too good. Hoping the hotrod show will be better. I'm always looking for one where people are selling old parts. Sort of swapmeet style.

RockinKees 11-20-2015 07:05 PM

Re: Dutch '59 Fleetside Longbed

Yep Easy fix!!

Different men, different rules...sealed beams are allowed IF they give a good light image.... But thats difficult with sealed beams.
Good to hear that's all!

This show is a reasonable show, not the standard as England or USA but for the Dutch is good. The swapmeet is also good, only not so much American stuff.

Maybe we run into each other, I always wear a black Dickies jacket and red All Stars, just one of the other 50's Rockers :lol:
So, if you think you see me, say Hi!

bogape 11-20-2015 07:25 PM

Re: Dutch '59 Fleetside Longbed

I thought there must be tons of cars driving round with sealed beams, but he passed 99.9% of the truck so I wasn't going to argue!
I'll look out for you. Shame we're not in the trucks as it'll be easier to recognise each other!

yep, I went there with my 2 boys, (1 and 4 year old)
the show was definately worth going to and a good size (for NL!)
The hotrod side was interesting then I spent a lot of time going round the autojumble part.
Looked out for you but didn't see you.
Will have to wait til the trucks are on the road then we'll find each other
or if you are passing Bussum then call in...
and let me know about any other shows worth going to..

thanks
Nick

Re: Dutch '59 Fleetside Longbed

Promised you a How-To on my new shifter ;)

Here's what I started with, a Peppermill:

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-b...2/P1260980.JPG

Put it in the lathe and you get this:

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-r...2/P1260982.JPG

Next you take aluminum and make the Therminal Nut:

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-D...2/P1260984.JPG

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-2...2/P1260986.JPG

I went a bit fast, but I also made the threaded other end:

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-q...2/P1260988.JPG

When I was ready on the lathe, I sprayed the wood silver:

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-1...2/P1260989.JPG

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-T...2/P1260991.JPG

Next I painted the "porcelain" insulator Ivory:

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-H...2/P1260994.JPG

Glued all the parts together and show how big it really is:

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-n...2/P1270080.JPG

The brand of this sparkplug is ;):

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-I...2/P1270081.JPG

For the heat range, I took my families initials, my wife, son, daughter, the the year of the truck, then mine initial: PJD59K

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-5...2/P1270082.JPG

And Sparky on the shifterrod:

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-7...2/P1270083.JPG

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-r...2/P1270084.JPG

This sparkplug is a one-off, never be made again!! :metal:
