I went to my other house over the weekend. The crackheads across the street had a little problem with their meth lab.

Could it be that with all the bouncing of moving on a flat tire ,,that the lug bolts have wollared out bigger holes and the weight of the truk when stopped ,,made the wheel center off center?

Doesn't look off center, just too big. Reason it caught my eye is that I had this idea that I could make 16" 88-98 wheels fit on solid axle square body 4x4 by cutting out the center hole since the bolt circle is the same. It doesn't work because of the back space :(

So anyway I didn't think those cut-out wheels would be safe on the originally designed pickup because the weight would all be on the lug bolts (I didn't have the 89 when I tried to make the wheels work on the Suburban). Now three of those wheels are filled with rocks holding up t-posts in places where you can't drive them into the ground. And one of them is serving as a tire chain basket.

Or maybe that wheel is for something different and just happened to sort of fit? I guess if you're running a tire flat that long you aren't too particular about wheel applications either

Wheels can be hub-centric or lug-centric, so either mounting style actually works. Though to be honest, I've had better luck with hub-centric wheels. I put a set of Corvette rallyes on my '68 Skylark, and they ran fine with no vibration with the larger hub hole.

Well, I was worried about the lug bolts not engineered to hold up the weight of the vehicle, if the axle is designed to have wheels that fit snug around the hub.

I thought about throwing an old tire on one of the cut-out wheels just for a second spare. It's either 25 or 60 miles from our place to a town to get a tire fixed.

The older square body wheels would probably actually work on the 88-98 pickups, but the wheel/tire would sit farther out. But it won't work the other way, at least on the front the wheel hits the tie rod.

When you see a Chevy truck running Toyota rims and those tires are shot, it's equal to the carload of people in the old Sentra running on four bald space-saver spares.

This misalignment on my bathroom vanity always bugged me. It's offset to look right from the sink side but created this awkward spot I look at from my "seat".
Attachment 2028467

I do some deep thinking on that seat, but also a lot of dazing without thought... except "How can I make that spot better w/o a hole lot of work?"

Figured it out

Attachment 2028468

Not perfect. It's a patch job, but so what? I could have puttied and sanded to blend, but naw. A 162 year old house is bound to have a repair or two. At least the paint line continues through now!

Duh! That explains it.

I once knew that the bolt circle was the same because I tried to give those five wheels to the neighbor kid with a T-100, but it turned out he had an extra set of wheels already sitting around.

Yep. For whatever reason, the Japanese trucks all ran the Chevy bolt pattern from way way back, not even metric. Didn't you love the ole days when things were so standardized? Things that were just fine the way they were and everybody got used to. Shoot, these days of Willy Nilly thinks he should be able to do as he pleases, you don't even know if the twisty on the bread will be lefty loosie or not! What next, random direction for bolt threads??? "Why does tight always get to be right and I have to be loose? wah wah wah"

Toyota bought the rights to the 235 CI Chevy 6 to put in their Land Cruisers. I guess they wanted to carry the details all the way out to the wheels. After all, there's no point in reinventing the wheel. :D

No air. Solid tires all the way around, such as they are.

I've got several old trailers sitting around, with five hole wheels that are all the same. My understanding is that they were also a F**d wheel for a long time, and fit many Jeeps. I think the bolt circle fits my 88 XJ but I'm not sure the wheels fit over the brakes. I know the backspace is wrong but they should still work if they clear the brakes, just sit out farther than intended. Would be better than walking.

(Just today I had four tires that came off my jeep mounted on four of those trailer wheels for the 12' flatbed. Turns out they don't make that size tire anymore but I figured it was worth paying to mount four brand new tires on the old trailer that had rotted tires on it. The tire shop had to give me four new bigger tires after I ruined one, but I talked them into giving three back to me because I had to buy a brand new spare for the Jeep just because they couldn't replace one with the same size tire.)

that's a hoe for grooming the fire and carrying dead mortar cakes down to it LoL

first shot was so bright from a mortar blast just in right margin of picture, the campfire light was completely canceled and partially obscured by that old rock gate post.. kids were making s'mores in the fire earlier :metal:

I saw the smoke and figured that. Hanging around the campfire with a hoe. Reminds me of my high school field party days!
here's a good way to get on down the line! I took this at the Wheels through Time Museum in Maggie Valley, NC. Sorry for the crappy quality, batteries were low
