Re: 198Plus build

I mocked up an old Big Block that I had laying around.......The tubular mounts worked out fine. I used a set of BBC Hooker headers for a 69 Camaro, they fit very nice. Now I'll send the headers off and have them hot jet coated.

Who did you buy your engine mounts from. It looks like you used the rear frame holes did that give enough room for the dist.
Thanks

Re: 198Plus build

I got the mounts from Brothers, I used the rear holes and have plenty of room for distributor. I'm having to use short valve covers but still able to use roller rockers just had to use the stainless steel ones.

Thanks for the info. Are you using a stock engine cradle, I'm using a 78 not sure if there is a difference when it comes to bolting the engine perch to it.
Thanks

Not to mention it could suffocate in there in the mean time. You might want to uncover it often so it can breathe a little......

Man looking at post 1010 and 1015 your floor panels appear to fit perfectly. My forward floor panel is not stamped right the holes do not line up and it's missing the upper lip. Crap I thought this was just the quality to expect. Did your restamps fit as well as they look?

It's too late to return mine as I already cut it up for installation... I'm depressed... Oh well live and learn... It just seems, lately, I'm learning too much cost wise.

Alan or Ronnie. When you sand the side panels what do you use. A long board, air inline long board, or what?

When blocking filler I'll use all air tools. When I block primer it's done by hand. On big panels I'll use a long block. I'll be posting some pics tonight I hope of what I'm using to block on my bed. I'm starting with 120 grit then go back over it with 180 as long as I don't have to redo anything. I'll prime again block with 180 then prime again and do a final sand with 400. Then seal it and paint.

Re: 198Plus build

I'm painting all the new parts I added to my bike. I found out if you sand through the paint into the primer or more, you can't paint over it or it will get under it and wrinkle it. You need to re primer it a little at a time to seal it. Then block it again. :dohh::m6:
It's a long process. But I'm confident it will come out great. I posted this information just to help everybody out that didn't know.

Well the Firebird went under under the knife today. It's amazing what we found. This car had already had new rear quarters installed by another shop.........

Car when we got it.....

Removed quarters.....

This is what we found, new quarters had a butcher job on them......
