Re: Dutch '59 Fleetside Longbed

Thanks guys!!

I've got a question for you:
I can get some vintage Slotmags for free, 15 x 7.
There are only two....
Should I mount them on the back of the truck and maybe look for some to match on the front?
Or keep the steelies??

Can't remember seeing slotmags on a Taskforce.... So if you have some pics to show for reverence, please post them here?

Thanks!!

Advanced Design 11-19-2016 09:02 AM

Re: Dutch '59 Fleetside Longbed

If the truck were mine I would keep the steelies. Could just me me as I was never a fan of slots, even back in the 1970's when they were all the rage.

Stick with the steelies with maybe a cap like these?

RockinKees 11-21-2016 05:39 PM

Re: Dutch '59 Fleetside Longbed

I've thought about the wheels....
I'll stick with the steelies
Maybe a bit wider front and back to have a bit more meat to look at.
Future plans.....

And we're planning a trip to the Hot Rod Hayride in Engeland, July 2017 :metal:
Three and a half days of pre '65 Hot rods and good old Rock n Roll

Haha, it should be!!!
If you never heard of it you should take a look at youtube, lots of nice videos ;)

I finally have my headliner complete in.
Had the inside roof insulated, made 4 wooden bars to hold the wooden plate, at which I screwed the lisence plates on.
The plate is screwed on the 4 bars, see it as a lockjaw, a free floating headliner.
It's stuck tho ;)
I tried to turn the pics, but that doesn't work?

Pic #1: insulated and 2 of 4 bars installed
Pic #2 cardboard template of the wooden headliner, this took a while to get it right...
Pic #3 Wooden plate painted, ready to go in
pic #4 finished Hot Rod heaven, difficult to take a picture with that backlight...

My buddy Niels took a good friend with him, he drives a '69 VW Type 34, among other things ;) and went to a very nice place.
Niels took about 380 pictures!!!
It was nice wheather, sun was out, a bit chilly but we had great fun!!

So here are two pictures.....I took them with my phone.
I'll show more when the others are ready ;)

Re: Dutch '59 Fleetside Longbed

Thank you guys!!
Doug, that building was for storage of ammunition.
The location was an ammunition factory in its former life. It is now an event location you can hire for different events.
When we were there, we were brainstorming about organizing a Kustom Kulture event there....
Lets keep it by brainstorming :lol:
Beautiful place!!

Thanks Lower!!

Today I went on a small roadtrip... Fog and freezing wheather... But it was fun!!

I picked up an aluminium tool box, finally found one :metal:
I have to trim it here and there, but that shouldn't be a problem.
This one has no bottom in it, it is the intention that you use the bed itself as bottom. I don't know if I keep it that way or that I make a bottom myself.
Also don't know if I wil keep it at it"s natural color or if I will paint it black.
I lean towards black. What do you guys think??
In the pics it looks small, but it's 71 inch width ;)

Advanced Design 12-30-2016 08:05 PM

Re: Dutch '59 Fleetside Longbed

I agree with you and vote for painting it black.

oldman3 12-30-2016 08:42 PM

Re: Dutch '59 Fleetside Longbed

Kees, with your truck black is the way to go...Jim

RockinKees 12-31-2016 11:50 AM

Re: Dutch '59 Fleetside Longbed

Doug and Jim, I think you are right on the black....

And for all that read this, a very good end of the year, and a better begin for 2017!!
And remember: have fun and stay save!!

See you next year :metal:
