Thanks to a few good friends the truck is up on Jack stands and the wheels and tires are off. The big wheels are being taken to another friend to have the tires removed. I plan to have the rear wheels polished. I have got to get all the bolt on parts off and taken to the powder coater.I hope to get some of this going before next week! I also need to figure out what to paint the cage and frame with.

A few pictures of the front and rear of the frame and cage. Looking forward to getting parts back from Powder coater. So we can start final assembly!

Re: Its Mine the World Famous 67 Dragtruck
what did you coat the roll cage with?
|
Re: Its Mine the World Famous 67 Dragtruck
VHT krinckle paint.
|
Re: Its Mine the World Famous 67 Dragtruck
Looks good, I like the contrast between the cage coating and the frame paint!
|
Re: Its Mine the World Famous 67 Dragtruck
Thanks Karl. I can't wait to get my stuff from the powder coater. I am past ready to start going back together!

Re: Its Mine the World Famous 67 Dragtruck
Please don't take this as bashing because I'm not. I would have boxed the front frame rails where the front tubes connect to get if extra support. As it is now the top of the frame rails will start to flex under power and in case of emergency won't offer the protection it should. Again, not bashing, love the truck.
|
Re: Its Mine the World Famous 67 Dragtruck
you could still make a crossbar with oversized plates on each end slide that between the rails and mount it through the holes in the chassis
on the other side , the flex /spring in the chassis might help soften the launch |
Re: Its Mine the World Famous 67 Dragtruck
Personally I think the motor plate attaching to those tabs just in front of the front struts,,, and the mid plate probably within a foot of the A-pillar bars of the cage,,, what's left between isn't going to have much room for flex. A ProMod or Altered has much less frame forward of the cage,, and a lot more power. Not saying Kevin will be underpowered by any means, just that I don't think he's looking at 2500HP+

Re: Its Mine the World Famous 67 Dragtruck
youre right with the engineplates the engine will become a structural piece of the frame
dont wipe away that motor as being weak yet we still have to see how mush nos he will spray |

Re: Its Mine the World Famous 67 Dragtruck
have been looking intoo those truckarms from hotrods to hell before , they look nice , think they made them for a few other cars and trucks too
did they use I beams and added stiffeningplates to them made them from U profile welded against eachother like the originals or constructed the arms from flat steel ? allso curious if they added stiffeningplates to both sides (i'm guessing yes , as the arms should be mirror images of eachother ) its actually hard to see welds on the inside edge of the parts where there no stiffeningplates welded in and cant see the top and bottom edge of the arm so i cant be sure cant realy see wat they did at the hingepoint either , looks like a bushing with rubber wall pressed inside thickwall pipe welded intoo the beam and it looks like they bended the stiffeningplate up so it welds to the outside edge of the pipe to make it stronger could you make some closer pictures from both ends of those arms? |

Re: Its Mine the World Famous 67 Dragtruck
hey dj is bed still mounting to cab? what supports rear bedsides its covered in the last few pics. with no tubs or floors how nasty does everything get under bed cover
|
Re: Its Mine the World Famous 67 Dragtruck
Yes bed still mounted to cab. Rear gate is a skin as well and it has a custom mount to hold roll pan, tailgate skin and rear bedsides. It does get a decent amount of rubber in it. I may do some metal or carbon fiber at some point.
