Re: ''Project '64 SYT Super Yenko Truck"
I have been away from this forum for quite sometime..... what caught my "eye" is the "Yenko" theme you have chosen for your project.
I live "minutes" from the original Yenko Chevrolet showroom which was located in Canonsburg, PA. Living so close I was able to see many of the infamous CPO "Super Cars" that were put together there and also at the new/larger location Yenko moved to on Route 19 (currently Sun Chevrolet). Sun Chevrolet took over the Yenko Chevy franchise in the early '80's. Another sad "commentary" on the extinction of the "muscle car era. :( (ps: my avitar is a picture of an original black & chrome (metal) "Yenko emblem" that was used on cars Yenko sold before the more "common" "red - white & blue" style emblem) |
Re: ''Project '64 SYT Super Yenko Truck"
well i bought some 1 3/4 headers and some 2 1/2 in dynomax bullets for an amazing 10 bucks!!! the headers are about two months old and came from summit (80 dollars new) but they are BBC headers
and the dynomax bullets are only 2 weeks old ill get some pics up later |
Re: ''Project '64 SYT Super Yenko Truck"

Re: ''Project '64 SYT Super Yenko Truck"
those headers look more than 2 months old to mee, as far as the little glasspacs...they will be very loud, as much as time as I have seen you waste on mufflers and exhaust you could have bought and installed a system or had a local shop hook you up for about 200$, the truth is exhaust is the least thing you need to worry about, if you run it open pipes you will loose alot of low end, but should run high speeds well, you need a certain amount of backpressure for things to work right, I am building a 2 1/4 mandrel bent system for my 62 with an x pipe and two magnaflows exit rear behind the wheel, the whole system I will have less than 200$ into and about a day or 2 welding and cutting pipe, If I was you I would quit wasting time on exhaust and carbs and get the truck together..you had such a great start...now you are stalled...get that old truck on the road !!
|
Re: ''Project '64 SYT Super Yenko Truck"
no those are 2 months old
2 very hard months and the mufflers are actually quiet i put them on last night |
Re: ''Project '64 SYT Super Yenko Truck"
Did you put the glass packs on the right way, the little baffle things aren't supposed to catch the exhaust coming through?
|

Think about 10-11mpg.
|
Re: ''Project '64 SYT Super Yenko Truck"
Think about finishing one project before the other, or unload the both trucks for that!
|
Re: ''Project '64 SYT Super Yenko Truck"
i can trade my ford straight across for this one
its a 1990 model with a tbi 350 and those are 38s the only thing about it is that it has a salvage title how hard would that be to get insurance and what not |
Re: ''Project '64 SYT Super Yenko Truck"
ask your parents
dude.. seriously SELL the ford to pay for your project... your obsession and ADD is getting kinda annoying.. you need to learn some financial discipline and focus. Do you think that stang your dad has was just majically grown? |
Re: ''Project '64 SYT Super Yenko Truck"
no but it took him 12 years to build it!!!! :D
|
Re: ''Project '64 SYT Super Yenko Truck"

Re: ''Project '64 SYT Super Yenko Truck"
sorry
i just need something to drive for now but im tired of working on that piece of crap ford so this blazer should be easier and cheaper to work on |
Re: ''Project '64 SYT Super Yenko Truck"
Justin chill with Gage man. He's got to learn some how. I know these threads are hear to teach, Say your imput nicely no mater how he takes it.
Why does the truck have a salvage title? If you plan on driving the truck as a DD you are going to waste a lot of gas on it. Those tires cost a lot of money to replace. It's not hard to get a salvage title changed out as long as everything has been fixed. Best thing to do is go ask the DMV about it. Find out what needs to be do. This is really one time I hate to say keep the **** if your going to drive it all the time. How much do you think your **** is worth? How much would the 4x4 be worth? I would really get rid of it and get a cheap import and save on gas and all the parts your going to spend on something else. Then put your money into the truck. |
Re: ''Project '64 SYT Super Yenko Truck"
i only drive about 6 miles every day from school to work and to lunch im in a small town and theres not much to do anyway
the f**d was getting sh!tty milage with the 5.4 (about 6-7) and i dont plan on driving a lot and the trucks are worth about the same blazer a little more |
Re: ''Project '64 SYT Super Yenko Truck"
something must have really been wrong with that motor if you were getting 6-7mpg. The blazer wouldn't be bad if you dont drive much at all. check into the title and I would say go for it. But you are going to spend some money on the gas. How much do you think it's worth.
