Might want to hold out and spend the coin on a GM dash pad, not an aftermarket one. NOTHING fits and looks as nice as a GM pad, ask anyone here who has replaced theirs with an aftermerket...including me.

You see them on eBay from time to time, or find a good used one. New will usually be 250+, used you can still get good deals on if you are patient and keep your eyes peeled.

what kinda frame did you use was it just a lwb frame?

MichaelC 01-15-2009 12:03 AM

Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Short Beds

I built a frame out of 2x4 3/16 thick square tube. To the back of the cab where it mets the bed then it is a 2x2 square tube bridged from the cab back.

Did you reverse the rear door windows? If so, why?
Not bagging on that or anything just curious!
Nice truck!

MichaelC 01-15-2009 08:59 PM

Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Short Beds

I am working on the top. It will slide into the bed. The bed will raise up then the top will slide by electric motor into a track under the bed cover. And then reverse to put the top back on.

I had 40inch Hawgs on my one ton, and they had to be my favorite. They lasted a long time and worked great in the mud and snow, but the sound they made going down the freeway was pure music.

thank you! the entire front has been rebuilt w/ 1 coil cut off the old springs (belltechs rode too rough) and the rear is stock sagging leafs w/ 2 removed. the rims are 15x8.5 w/ 295/50's all around. still too much of a gap for me. spindles and flip kit are coming soon as the frame gets tore down and painted...

I am feeling the pinch guys. Just had a power steering pump go bad and on the first drive after fixing it, my tranny started slipping. Picked up one with just a few miles for $150 from a dirt track racer and thought I was in business but now that I am under it the mount is bad and once the old tranny was removed we noticed the flywheel was cracked. I never noticed it but the tranny kick down cable was broke too. I examined the exhaust as well and noticed a hole in one muffler. now my rims and suspension install must wait.

Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Short Beds

It's an aluminum frame that I built that sits inside the rails and over hangs the bedrails about an inch, and I had the upholstery shop cover it with black vinyl. thanks for the nice words!
