Little update on the bed. Tailgate and fender wells are in. I just need to get my toolbox doors installed and aligned so I can tighten all the 1000 bed bolts.

I also finished up my Gas tank filler behind the driver taillight. I ran the wiring for the taillights. reverse lights, and side markers.

Re: Project 68 k10 LWB..aka "The Hulk"
Looking good! Curious. Where did you get the cork gasket for wheel wells? And any chance you have pics of your cross sill in place before the bed wood went on?
EDIT: Oh, and did you use the rubber pads under the cross-sills? . |

The cross sills are stock but have been customized by me and have been powder coated. I will see if I have a picture. but post 1034 you can see the cross sills |

Oh I got you. I measured my mounting holes in my bedsides so I cant remember where i placed that cross sill. I will have to look and get back to you. I raised my sills up 1” so I made my own pads with some real thin rubber. I can’t remember the thickness. But it’s pretty thin like 1/16” or so.

Small update...
Received my bucket seats from the upholster. The photo is them just setting in place. I need to melt holes in the floor to keep the carpet from unraveling. after I set the seats in place my upholstery guy and I set the center counsel/seat in and now have a game plan on how it will be upholstered. The plan is to have the design flow from the center counsel to the speaker box. We will see how that goes. |

My time lately has been used up by work and a new toy.
I decided to order a Snap-on welders work station to consolidate my MIG and TIG welders so not to have all these carts. On another note I cant wait to remove the truck and clean out all the dust and debris from all the work on this truck.....bodywork, dust, ash from the forest fires, etc. |
Re: Project 68 k10 LWB..aka "The Hulk"
Those seats are just plush looking
I like the new welding station too. So you got ash from forest fires eh? Hopefully you and your family didn't have any loss due to all those fires.... . |

I can’t wait to get the center section. I am heading to Montana for 2 weeks so maybe it will be finished by the time I get back! |
Re: Project 68 k10 LWB..aka "The Hulk"
Great looking truck! I want a set of those seats!! Can you tell us what you used and where you found them?
- looks like you're really close to completion |

The seats were originally an aftermarket seat from a company like shop4seats.com I think. I cut them up. Shortened them and built a custom seat mount. I also cut the head rests in half. In this picture you can see how tall the seat and headrest sit in relation to the back window. This was on the shortened seat mounts. |
Re: Project 68 k10 LWB..aka "The Hulk"

I did get the tool box doors on and adjusted. Just need to cut and buff the bed and tailgate. More pictures up soon. |

Hey, perfection takes time! Your seats look killer and the truck does too, it's so close, excellent work. :metal: Happy holidays to you and your family.

Well my painter has been working on the bed sides. he was able to get them cut and buffed. Check out the pictures. One even looks like it has white dust on the lower portion but its just the reflection of the ground.
Cant wait to get the bed complete and get the wheels on it!!! Happy New Year All!!! I will post a video my son shot while I was moving the truck back into the shop!!! |

Its been a long time coming and I cant wait to get it to 100%. I was able to get the LED taillights (purchased from Robznob) and side marker lights installed. See video. LED video I was also getting my NOS taillight trim that I purchased from a forum member out and had to order new trim clips as I was missing some. I will use the OEM ones but just don't have enough. Next is the tool box cover. |

Hey guys so I am waiting on a few items for the bed so I thought I would start working on the interior. With the carpet kit I ordered I wanted to put holes in it without allowing the carpet to unravel so I used some 3/8" steel brake line. Heated it up with my torch. I used my all to mark the hole location and melted the carpet with the tubing. Worked pretty good. This particular hole is for my stereo amplifier board under my seats.
Also thank you guys for all the comments! I appreciate you guys checking out my build....Keeps me motivated! |
Re: Project 68 k10 LWB..aka "The Hulk"
Cool trick, I will remember this one.
|
Re: Project 68 k10 LWB..aka "The Hulk"
That’s exactly how I did mine, stainless tubing and a propane torch. Makes for perfect holes.
Nice work! |

I made a few new bedside fender supports out of stainless steel and went ahead and polished them up. Since the front of the bed is not as sturdy after the Fall Guy Doors install. I figured adding the supports would help a bunch. Now the bed sides are solid as a rock.

Hey guys I have a question.
Do you see any reason I cant put in the seat belt retractors behind the seat rather than on the sides of it? See first and last picture I pulled from the site. The black seat photo is to show where it is supposed to be I guess versus where I want to put them. the blue seat picture is a stock seat belt. I just have them mocked up and will probably install the seat just to see if they work. Any reason this wont work or pose a problem? |
Re: Project 68 k10 LWB..aka "The Hulk"
Been a little while since I checked in. Got hit with Covid pretty hard. Looking great as usual. Keep it up. Like you said, spring is just around the corner.

2 day turn around for my speaker box and some panel pieces to get covered WOW!
I decided to take the hood C H E V R O L E T lettering and add it to the speaker box filler panel that goes between the window and the top of the box. With the center counsel arm rest down you will see the CHEVROLET between the seats. He also covered my interior sun visors. They look and feel great. I do have to order some interior paint to match the saddle color leather. The last picture is how the box will look in the truck.... |
Re: Project 68 k10 LWB..aka "The Hulk"
More progress, nice! Sub box looks good! Used to do custom install myself in the past and I am looking forward to doing a box for my truck. The lettering is a nice touch. Is the V going to be covered by something or is that a typo? Want shoulder belts myself. Been thinking about that kit. Not understanding the offset mounting with one bolt for the retractor. Does not seem as strong as factory.

I have been working on the interior or at least the stereo. I was able to get the rear cab corner panels made, covered and installed. Turned out pretty good I think. I still have to get the woofers installed and then I will take a completed picture.

Got the speaker box, cab corner panels and seat belts installed for the last time. Wired up the speakers and was able to turn the stereo system on.
The AudioControl amplifiers are controlled with an internal DSP(digital sound processer). Which means you have to tune it with a computer but man it works great and sounds good so far! I did not get a picture with the laptop connected but you can see the blue USB cable connected to the passenger side amplifier. I do not have the front kick panel speaker in yet but when I do I think its going to sound awesome!!! I am glad to have this completed so now I can get the seats in it and move to the next item on the list... More to come! |

I tried something different. The Focal component speakers came with these pods. At first wanted to change them but I thought I would wrap them with the same floor wood vinyl of my bed.
The seats are the final install. |
Re: Project 68 k10 LWB..aka "The Hulk"
Excellent work as usual. I love following your build.
