I have the Blair Rota-Broach as well. The trick that I've found is that at low-speed on the drill, they'll cut just fine. Also-when they start getting "lazy" (dull) with a lotta muscle they'll still cut through. I'm pretty damned sure that I've cut close to 500 spot welds with two bits in the Blair kit. Yesterday I did finally break the pilot drill bit that goes inside the broach arbor along with one of the cutters when I was fighting a particularly stingy spot welld on the dash.

In my spot weld count I've removed two dashes, approximately spot welds on my burb.
-2X front driver kick panels at 3X on one panel and 43 on the second.
-3X Rocker panels with unknown number of spot welds..

I was able to order two of the 3-Pack's of 3/8" Blair cutters at my local NAPA for only $20... I thought that was far.. I'll likely need at least one.. And then I'll have extras for the next project.

I cleaned out the insulation/deadener and vacuumed up the new/older cab.

It will need rockers, both from floor supports, part of both sides of the floor boards and some dummy beat in two spots on the firewall to fit in an engine it appears.

Not even close to as bad as the first cab even though it's more area.

All in all, I am still stoked about the cab.

I am still debating on shaved drip rails...

There is NO WAY IN HE DOUBLE TOOTHPICKS That I would ever take a project down to the spot welds like you have. Where do you draw the line?

Here's the driver's side outer floor and inner rocker welded in.. Still have to smooth the welds..

And--here's the mayhem I caused today.. I removed the entire inner structure in expectation of finding internal rot in the A-Pillar.. After rmoval of the dashboard and inner panel-I found that the inside was solid.

I will be coating the inside with rust converter and then using the cutaway pieces below to make everything solid.. I will sandblast all the individual pieces before slapping them together...

Does anyone re-produce these placards? I used a little Simple Green cleaner on mine to get the oxidation off, but the color started coming off worse than it already was. I figure I can get a new one if they are re-created and just stamp the original codes and numbers in the blank spaces.

And, here's the finished steering wheel. It's a GM Pewter Metallic Dupli-Color spray can color from NAPA. I think the lighting makes it look pretty close to the "Fawn" color although I was looking for more of a silver. The metallic in it is really nice-can't wait to get it in some better light.

There are more pictures in my link below showing today's work..

There's no way I'd take a project down so far. I'd let it go and get something with a little less work involved.

Picked up a Flarestat hazard switch at pick-n-pull today. It's one of those things that I always wanted but couldn't bring myself to pay $100 for. $16.00 out the door. Has gmc on it instead of the bowtie, but I'll live with it. I drilled out the hole for the choke cable (don't have a choke anyways) with a 5/8" bit and it fits perfect.

Unfortunately--this is -was a California truck and there's a sentimental attachment due to the trip I took with it.... Believe me--the rust was all pretty well hidden.... Besides--you can't just discard things once you start--you have to see them through--or so I've been taught

That B Body cluster looks right at home in there! Nice job. The LT1 is going to really haul.

Thanks for the positive feedback... I have driven it on the road sitting on a bucket, no doors, windshield, fenders, inner fenders, bed, etc. It does run good..

Had a good day working on the truck despite the fact it was only 32 degrees out. All went well until I broke off a bolt that holds down the thermostat cover...Snap!

Isn't it always frozen in Canada? Ha ha ( I am originally from BC so I can make that comment!) I forgot to add that I have no garage but with no rain it was not too bad!

Actually did it last week, but installed a class V trailer hitch, Rick's fuel tank with gen 5 Camaro fuel pump module and new poly bushings for my CPP panhard bar all in preparation to tow a mustang home from Ventura

Hey if it got too hot your igloo would melt!

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Somedays I wish I was further North where the igloo's are, easy and cheap to build not like all my insulation I put in my house to keep the -20 to -30 plus weather out. Oh well a few more months and the ice will melt and a couple of months of summer, haha.

I know this weather is horrible. It is almost 80 out there and I would do some work on my truck but I fear I might break a sweat.
