Oh heck yes, coolness is a thing that takes age to acquire. The youth goes around "thinking" they are cool and "acting" like they are. The older dudes just "are" cool and don't care who thinks it.
I love old stuff so much that there is very little new that I want. When 4wds really came on in the '70s and guys were going out buying brand new trucks, I was the guy with the old one. I had been around 4wds all my life with my dad being a Land Rover guy and him having friends with Jeeps, Scouts, etc. when that was not so common. Back then I dreamed about starting a business specializing in older 4wds and simply call it Vintage 4wd. One more idea I never moved on. I love old 4wds |
Re: Vintage 4wd Pictures:Other Makes
They don't make cool 4x4 anymore. The old ones were made to get the job done. The guys that bought them wanted them tough. Now it's all about comfort. I was looking to replace my 89 V3500 last year. The sticker shock was terrible. The new ones are literally all plastic and electric/automatically operated. I decided that the old 89 with it's Dana 70 rear and 60 front turbo 400, 205 transfer case could be freshend up. So far I have gone through the 454, trans and resealed the 205. The interior is all redone and all new felts window motors etc... Next, I'm going to fix some damage from a tree that fell on it last winter and paint it. After all that work, I should have about $60,000 left over from the cost of a new one for gas. The moral to this rant....I decided that the old 89 is a COOL ol' girl...

Yep, I was driving a friend's '14 last summer and that big electronic screen taking up the center of the dash is what you buy with something that looks like a truck surrounding it. I'm not saying these new trucks can't haul. Heck, they have some amazing figures. But if I spent that kind of money the last thing I'd want to do is put a snow plow on it or put it to work as a work truck. And if I spend all that money to have something to baby it'll be a beautiful old truck (and probably the building for it sit in)

More vintage coolness. Although I think this a bit new for MASH.

Well then buy it!! I like that thing. I've always wanted to explore the world when I get rich. This one would do me just fine.

Re: Vintage 4wd Pictures:Other Makes
Oh trust me I want it but can't right now. If I was going on a walk-about this would be the all terrain vehicle I would choose. I don't think I'd be driving past any gas stations though.:barn::barn:

Re: Vintage 4wd Pictures:Other Makes
There is a "yellow" (Ugh) '70-ish dodge 4x4 like this near me I used to see running around. Then I stopped at a yard sale and it was out back on the dudes property siting. IIRC he said he'd sell it for $4k

Yeah, but I'd dig that truck with plain old steel proper size Budds needing paint just as much, if not more. The wheels come second to the truck in my eyes.
If I could buy a Ferrari I would buy this |
