Frenching in the 39 Ford taillight on my Springer. Yes I use lead on motorcycles holds up better than bondo. Fender is from a Fatboy
I'm thinking of doing this on 68 but not in the fender but in the bumper or adding a roll pan |

Looks good on the bike. Leave the '68 stock . The best looking tail light on a Stepside is a Stepside tail light. For custom, just older smaller ones. Stepside beds have tail lights that are attached to the bed stanchions that stick out. It's ok, it's how it was meant to be.
How about a little better picture from Wheels Through Time? A Softail Knucklehead and a horizontal twin |

Surfs up Moondoggy. My new (to me) long board. I think it'll look cool on my hearse.
This baby is big! http://67-72chevytrucks.com/gallery/...Long_Board.jpg |
Re: Random Photos ‘You took’
Cool! That will look good on the hearse for sure.
Looks about my favorite size, about a 7'1"-7'3" spear. Is it a pintail? From starting surfing in the '60s long boards to me are the logs they started off on, like 8'+ and when boards like your other one came out we called them short boards . When those came out is when surfing style got all hyper trying to squeeze as many moves out of a wave as they could, cutting back into the wave several times. I like the graceful long flowing turns, just taking what the wave has to offer. A lot depends on the size of the waves. The Easy Coast guys loved the short board on the small waves with lower power. They'd milk all they could out of that mush. |
Re: Random Photos ‘You took’
It's not a pintail. But for 50 bucks I'm not complaining. I've been looking for one for a long time.

Looks real nice Tim. Metal roofing is becoming more and more the norm. Last month we removed the 30+ year old asphalt roofing on our shop and put down a metal roof. I had put it off for years and finally found the time while being out of work. I like it.

I remember when you asked advice on do it yourself or pay someone, and I said it's easy just do it. Glad to hear you got it done. Done deal now. That roof will be lasting a long time.
We used to call this type of metal roof "agricultural" or channel drain, but you see it going on some pretty fine homes these days. Asphalt shingles plus labor has become ridiculously expensive for a temporary roof. I had all cedar shakes on all my roofs at one time, and copper gutter. First went the roofs with very low pitch on the outbuildings. Then a big limb fell on the screen house with 12/12 pitch. Insurance paid me to repair it but between it being the great recession and the cost of cedar and copper going up so much, I put the metal on and aluminum gutter and pocketed the rest. Next, the low pitch lower roofs on the house started going. I wanted to use the ready-made standing seam on the house, but it's more expensive and getting it done was what really mattered. The ag style probably suits my place more. It's not a fancy Victorian, more of a peasant's home, being a log home built by a freed slave. When I bought it there was corrugated over old cedar shingles. This roof is the modern version of that. It's not a home for historically correct architecture, more like an example of the eras it has been through. It's typical to have different styles from different eras when improvements were done. That roof was 30 years old and very gone. Yet, underneath that spongy mossy surface was bone dry and looked fresh as the day I built the porch. That's why I took the picture of the ceiling before opening it up. I was amazed no water damage was showing. I figured the top side would be a different story, but no. This was when Tyvek first came out |

I'm going to piggy back off Warren's post. Took this photo last March as my wife and I waited on twilight for the movie to start.

How about this for a flipside? Had I used copper flashing and put a copper ridge on top, mostly the upper/steeper roof, the shakes would still be in great shape. Here is an example of how water run over copper won't allow the moss (or anything) to grow. Side by side contrast: Attachment 2030719 Bigger view: Attachment 2030720 Quote:
