Read the build thread but did not see the part # you used for the steering column. Does it seem like a nice piece and how did it fit? Any and all info would be great. Thanks Daniel.

I have it all cut and I am going to sand blast it to give it the rough look. Then I wil stain it ebony and gloss clear. should look great. Inner fenders are being built. Mario finished painting the other glove box to match the dash and I changed the steering wheel. I will get you guys pics asap.

Your truck looks great! I'm really interested in seeing how you are going to do the wood floor? Is the plan to elevate the whole thing? Patiently waiting on pics:)

Well I was going to do that but t I went with doing just the front and the back and left the hump alone. I am going to be putting a piece of sheet metal on the hump that will be custom painted and striped.

I am going to restore the tricycle for the bed of the truck. The wood will look rustic. Let me know what you guys think.

Re: Pops 72 cheyenne dropmember build

I think the wood finish will match very good with the black paint on the truck.....

Re: Pops 72 cheyenne dropmember build

IMO I think the wood will look out of place. The rest of the truck is pristine and to put wood in the bed that's rustic looking will clash with the cleanliness of the truck. If the truck was weathered or patina then it would fit the build.

I agree.
Maybe some Ebony or Red Mahogany stain with about a gallon of automotive clear to make the wood look like glass.
And stainless bed strips,... of course.

Re: Pops 72 cheyenne dropmember build

I like the rustic look, but maybe put a clear over it so that it shines
i really like the way the black highlights the grain and it is different!! I'd say keep it but make it shine like glass

I think it will look cool and won't be out of place at all, especially with the gloss clear. That along with the rough liner that is currently sprayed will make it all tie together nicely. I think it would look better if you raised the floor though. Maybe you could make a temp structure to raise the lower pieces up to the height of the hump. It only needs to be framing to hold the wood up and you can use industrial magnets so you can go back if you want to later. Just a thought.

Bottom line though. Sandblasted, ebony stained & clear wood on this truck....SWEET!

I agree that the ruff cut might seem out of place. The rest of the truck is top notch the bed wood/finish needs to match.

Again splitting hairs here as the truck is plain sick.....

Re: Pops 72 cheyenne dropmember build

The issue is the rough bed liner looks better in my opinion with the rough cut. I think the gloss will look out of place but I could be wrong

Looking great. I agree leave the Rustic look with lot's of clear. Is that a hiawatha trike. I'm into collecting Prewar bicycles. Check out Thecabe.com when you get to restoring it. Lot's of good info and a parts for sale section
