Hi guys, well every chance I get I've been sanding away on this cab and ordering primer and parts. :metal:
We now have a new work schedule at the shop so I am now getting Sunday and Monday's off All month every month....nice in the fact it means more truck time....but sucks in that it takes some pay check away. Oh well...I'll make it up with truck time. :chevy: SO, for a good Kick start into getting Mondays off....after school a buddy and I hammered on sanding this cab for a good 4 hours. Took awhile....but I am pretty much ready for primer. Not much more needs to be sanded before I can cover the whole cab in epoxy primer and mount it on the frame for some modifications. :bann: Rest of the firewall is done, dash is done, roof and drip rail is done, back half of the cab done, and today I finished the back upper wall of the cab, pillars are done, and the door jams are done. |

While sanding, I've been ordering parts to get the 292 running. Of course nothing goes as planning and it looks like I won't be breaking the motor in this month....but we are getting closer and closer! Ordered these gauges from summit racing so I can watch things while breaking in the motor. Cheap, but nice looking gauges. Also ordered some wire and loom so I can route the fuel pump wires.
Well..that's all for now guyz! We should have some more updates this weekend. Weather is supposed to turn cold and rainy for 4 days straight....meaning it could rain this weekend so I am not sure when I'll be priming. Guess we'll find out! Until next time.... :chevy: |
Re: Project two tone.

I had the opportunity to see this truck in person and I can say that it is even more amazing than the pictures let on, I hope someday when both of our trucks are runners we can meet up and go cruising together.

Well Saturday after work it was nice and hot so I spent the evening cleaning and then sprayed some primer! Got a fair amount on and I'm very happy with how smooth it came out for Epoxy.

Still got some body work to do is why I didn't prime the whole cab in....gotta get these nasty creases out. Stud welder and slide hammer are on the way so I can get to work on getting these out.
Next on the list while I am waiting on tools is to start gettin these doors apart and sanded. All for now folks! :chevy: |
Re: Project two tone.

Re: Project two tone.
I picked up a Harbor Freight Stud Welder. It worked really well. Look for a puller that looks like a rivet gun. Here's a picture.
http://cdn.eastwood.com/media/catalo...p/3/p31014.jpg It worked really well. Nice and controllable. |
Re: Project two tone.
Nice work TJ!

Re: Project two tone.
Hi TJ!
WOW! Do you know what happened to the cab? I'm guessing some one rear ended your truck at some point in its life. |

Thanks! Well I've been slowly working away that this body work. Lot's of patching and filling to do. I'm waiting on my durablock sanding kit so that is slowing me down a bit. Also waiting on urethane primer so I can start block sanding. Driver's side rocker is patched up and done, working on the passenger side still. Really close on that one. Also got a dent pulled and filled on the lower cab corner. Also some more patch work on the back of the cab. Coming out pretty good considering it's by hand and no block. haha But waiting to get the kick before any primer goes down.

Also got the firewall spot welds filled in and a door panel sanded down. Will keep hammering away at it this week. Hoping to prime this weekend. Later guys! :chevy:

Re: Project two tone.
Nice job TJ and you're exactly right, there's nothing fast about bodywork, especially if it's done right. Paint and body can be 75% of the time involved in a build. And it looks like you got it going on… good work.
