Northern Showdown! There was everything here. Close to 500 vehicles, not bad for there 3rd year.

I met Dan Woods from Chop Cut Rebuild and got a signed plate. I also got recognition for the top 50 :) I was not the only Diesel Dually there. It was a great spot for a show.

Looked like a couple good shows. I really wanted to attend the Northern Showdown. Sounds like it really grew since last year.

Well on Saturday at the show the organizer of the 519 truck show I went to a month ago came and found me to tell me that I won "Best of show". I said no way we picked "Best lowered" category. There was a bunch of confusion at the end of that show we thought it was over so we left. He told me how to pick up my 3' trophy. I still can't believe this is for my truck. :metal:

Limbo contest at the show Saturday was fun. Only went through once due to the fact my truck is 5' tall sitting on the ground. But I plowed my way through ;)

Re: My 52 GMC Build
Very cool on all! I'm glad you posted pics of that diesel dually. I was watching an old episode of Restoration garage and they had footage of a show they took their rat rod to. In the that show clip, I saw that truck blowing black smoke but you couldn't see most of the truck. Very cool on your big win too!

Re: My 52 GMC Build
Well finally got some fuel calculations.
Pulling my 18' trailer I got 15mpg Just the truck driving around this past weekend 18mpg So we calculated without the trailer we should get about 500 mi to a tank. Ya my bladder can't last that long. |
Re: My 52 GMC Build
Yeah but Pee breaks are free. Diesel fill-ups, well not so much.

Re: My 52 GMC Build
That's not bad mileage towing your camper. Just don't resort to the bottle bathroom like truckers here do.
|
Re: My 52 GMC Build
That looks like it would work pretty good on the driveway too!
Where did you get the chrome mirror arm for the driver's side that angles up (47-50) and not down (51-55)? |

Last night I went to see a really nice guy Nick. I met him at the Jalopy Jam up car show. He has well.... one of everything (nice stuff too) While we chatted at the show he said if I could use it, he has an almost new dually axle with disk breaks. I am not sure when this will happen but I will swap the disks over to my axle. Thanks Nick
My truck on the back of his tow truck would make for an interesting picture. (not broken of coarse) If anyone has or knows where to get the one piece window trim for a good price pm me. Attachment 1568905 Attachment 1568906 Attachment 1568907 |

It was a beautiful day on Sunday so I took my GF for a drive to a Ontario land mark not to far away. She has never been there and thought it was really cool. There is only a 3 ton weight limit but my truck is 2.5t.

So today I got my new valley pan ready by welding in the vent fitting and giving it a coat of my engine paint. Tomorrow morning I start. I am also in need of some new rear tires, for some reason these ones didn't last to long. Joe and I finished them off properly today. Video to come soon. Attachment 1572420 Attachment 1572421 |
