OK, I haven't had any shop time on the Suburban. Making up for that a bit is our annual MetalMeet event in Oblong, IL happening this week. Projects, classes, food and visiting with friends is a great time!

One of our friends is the manager of the Burr King factory in Missouri and he brought the display truck. Drooling over this one.

Thanks guys. It is a good time with good people. I haven't picked up any tools yet thou probably will. English wheel shaping, classes, project progress and a leading seminar have been going on this morning. Guys are making fenders, patch panels, door skins, and flowers. I will try to throw some pictures up later.

No this event doesn't travel. There are a number of English wheels, bag stands, tables, and other tools that are stored in the fairground buildings. Folks gather in Oblong to share information and sharpen skills about metal shaping. Many years we have attendees from California (and around the world) and usually there are similar events there. MetalMeet, com is a good source for the events.

I have made good friends and met many talented people through this event.

One of the participants was modifying a 1950 GMC Suburban grill opening to house a 1952 Buick grill. It came out pretty nice.

The event is held at the Crawford County IL fairgrounds which offers a nice lake and camping spots / RV hook ups back in the trees.

Jim, the event will be held again next October 11 - 16 2016. and is open to anyone who wants to attend. Registration fee for the participants has been only $100 for a number of years. That provides access to use all the tools, a reasonable supply of 19 gauge steel for your own use and attendance at any of the seminars you want to attend. Lots of the guys bring in tools and everyone shares or uses them too.

You and Mark should try to come over next year. Really a good group of people and a very friendly atmosphere.

Jim, hope you or any of the folks on here can make it! I've learned a lot from these talented people and have made many good friends.

Suburban is waiting patiently for me to get back on it. I followed Lower50's advice and ordered two tanks like he has. They are nice pieces that come with their own mounting brackets. Thanks Lower50's!

Only other thing I've done is count the splines on the rear axle - 28 - for the center section. The growing grass is slowing down so might be able to get back on it soon....

That custom grill was very slick. Most custom treatments look well lets say......more different than custom. I like that one though.

Get back on that Burb..
