DJ have you bought any lunati junk lately? Hell comp is buying out everybody,I just finished doing a building for Joe and he don't give a $$$$.I just bought my cam from Huggins which used to be cam dynamics back in the day.sammy swindell, steve kinsor and others called while I was there and he flat told them if you want to run comps stickers run their cams and it made me fall down laughing,Bullet cams is in lunati/taylor piston building and they are the same folks with lunati, they are all right here in my back door,BTE,Memphis performance,Comp,Bullet,Lunati,TCI,Eagle,Clevite,Mahle,Bill Taylor and Joe Lunati owned L&T pistons Which is BTE and Lunati and used to be TCI who is comp,I do want to know who is going to take over and run crane?

Re: Its Mine the World Famous 67 Dragtruck

I haven't bought any of their stuff since I built the 468. I don't like Comp at all. They picked out a huge cam for my 468 that wouldn't even hardly do a burnout without the bottle. I'm beginning to think they are all crooked. My Jesel shaft rockers that were bought new to go with my heads have the wrong stands so my geometry is way off on the intake side.

WoW... it's been a LONG time since I got a "hit" from this thread.... my best wishes to you for a "successful build". It's been a long time coming.... I know your "right foot" must be "itching" to kick that "pedal to the metal" again. :metal:

I really "love" any & ALL of the work involved with the hot rod projects I have had over the years.... by FAR the toughest part is dealing with the "TIME" it takes to accomplish things.

In addition to the "normal" time it takes to get things done there are so many things that are always there to "do" that just prolong.

It's not as easy as all of the TV car/hot rod shows make it seem.... by the time the commerical is over "we'll have it done"!!!! What a joke.... it's gonna take time.... usually MUCH MORE time than we plan/anticipate.... definitely more time than a commerical or two!!!! LoL!!!

Am I ever going to get that El Camino done so I can get back to the C10???

YES!!! I can remember when I first started hangin' out on this forum & found myself at home on this part with all the "drag racers & hi-performance" guys/gals.

I have followed DJ's story since he bought his C10..... thru his awesome showing on "Pass Time" and now the anxious anticipation (we all have) as we wait for the day we see his C10 back on the 1/4 mile.

When I come here I know I can find GREAT advice & words of encouragment from him & the rest of the gang that frequent this forum.

So when are we going to see a "time slip and/or video???

Good Luck DJ!!!!

Re: Its Mine the World Famous 67 Dragtruck

I have everything for the new motor except lifters and push rods. My push rods may work. I sent my intake off to be plumbed and flowed. I plan to spray it pretty hard so I sent it to the local guru for this work. I just got my coated main and rod bearings this week so I'm finally ready to start putting the motor together. I had some upgrades done to my glide but need a new converter for the new bullet. I want to paint the truck and upgrade so many other things I'm at a loss as to stick it together or totally make it like I want it. I also found another truck I want to buy for my son who's 12th birthday is today. I could stick it together and play until mine is painted but who knows.

Thank's for the kind words!

That's what I'm going to do (flat black) with my El Camino(g-body) I plan NOT to get "serious" about the bodywork & paint (bright red/non-metallic) until NEXT Spring. So the flat black will do just "fine" for now.

When I bought the Elky I DID NOT plan on fixing it up as much as I am doing right now (so what else is NEW???) As soon as I get all the "loose ends" tied up I plan to get the SBC & 5 speed swap done ... hopefully in the next couple of weeks or so.

Man it sure has taken a LOT LONGER than I expected to get this stuff done.... I KNOW you know what I mean DJ????

Attached is a pic of the SBC that is going into the Elky - 355ci - Vortec Heads - Performer manifold w/dual feed 750 Holley - Chet Herbert Roller cam & lifters/rockers - MSD - under drive pulleys - it should get me back & forth to work in plenty of time!!! :0)

I bought my El C to use as a "daily driver" ....was not going to "fix-it-up" too much....yeah right!!! I got it with V6 three speed manual.... great beater...ha!!! Now it's on its way to being a street/strip car. Never thought I'd like a G-Body ('80) being my favs are '59-60 & '69's .... but after driving it awhile I got bit by the Elky-Bug!!!

Hope to have it in "flat black" and the engine/tranny swap done by mid-Sept or so. Will post a build tread soon.... then back to the C10 "gasser" ......
