Just about finished with the 63 short bed. Has a RamJet 350 and 4L60 with 355 gears and posi. Still needs to get to the muffler shop for full length pipes with electric cutouts and we're struggling a bit with the door seals but other than that, this truck is ready for it's new home. A big shout out to the Tuba guys for another job well done. Here's a few pics till we get it completed.

Last fall this 65 came to us for body-work and paint. The chassis had already been built and was a complete roller. But the shell of the cab needed a lot of attention... cab corners, rockers and inners, roof skin, door skins, lots of floor patches, radio panel, drip rails... Just about a total rebuild of the cab. Our customer wanted it nice enough that the floor looked stock and will only have a rubber floor mat covering the front half. The underside is sprayed with a bed-liner undercoat.

Once we got to paint it made all that work worth it. The original dark green color flowed out nice after 6 coats of acrylic enamel. The interior color of non-metallic fawn really compliments the dark green exterior and we added a little matting agent for the dash to reduce glare. Now it's on to the front clip.

The 63 and the green 65 are both spectacular. Is the 65 paint code 505?

Yes sir, Dark Green 505. Dupont 93-77161 or single stage Dupont 4190. The mixing elements may be slightly different than the originals but you have to use what's available. We found that mixing the base coat version but use an acrylic binder gave us the best results.

I notice your truck is that same green. I like the photoshop work, that will look great. What is your plan on paint?

Thank you! First, I have to fix all the rust, but I'm probably going to have someone paint it since I have no knowledge or tools to give the truck a proper paint job. That's still a long way off though, as I haven't even started on fixing the cab rust. It will definitely be going back to the 505 green, but I want to do the factory interior color as well. White bumpers and grille. I'm also considering the same white and black interior accents you did on the 63 posted above. I really like how that looks.

We are working on a 48 custom cab that is a red and black two-tone. 300 horse 350 chevy with sniper and a 700R, mustang 2, power rack, 4-link rear and coil overs all around.
I know it's not year specific to the 60-66, which is definitely my favorite, but I post it here anyway.

Not trying for the reflection, just a bright shiny day. Over cast days are probably better for pictures.

You are spoiling us Clem !

Three gorgeous truck reports in as many days, well less really.

They are all, lovely, and I would have a hard time selecting one only.

Depending on all things being equal, I may have to come inspect for myself in August or September.

Thanks Rian,
We're looking forward to your visit. It's been a couple of years since the last time you got over here. Kim stashed you back some bottles of Louisiana Gold.

My wife's new car. A 1956 Plymouth Suburban 2-door wagon. A nice original car that has great lines and in great shape. The only problem is it has a column shifted 3-speed trans which she is not fond of. So, the plan is to find a donor car that has the automatic that can be switched for the manual. With the donor I would get the cross member, pedal hanger, steering column and dash shifter plus anything else required. This is a pretty rare car and though it's off topic for us truck guys, it is a gem... meet Rosie.

That is one really nice ride and it sure puts a smile on mama's face. I'd say you did extremely well, as usual.

That is a beauty Clem.

I have no idea, but Steve Snyder at Snyders Junkyard in Pueblo, Colorado could be your guy, he is on Facebook, or call him, he has an amazing inventory.

I hope to meet Rosie in person by month end or in September, with Dennis if all comes together.

Tuba Trucks just finished a 1963 Custom Cab short-bed with all kinds of computers and all the complications, that come with them.. but it's done. Or so we hope. I love carbs and points, it makes sense to me, maybe throttle body and HEI buts that's it. Nothing else really makes sense. I know... Old School, but what the hell. We should set our limits to what we know and do it the best we can. So, here it is. The limits are the customer is cool with his truck and we here at Tuba are cool with it, so, is that a good build? Hopefully so. We are a restoration company, there are plenty or of shops that do LS conversions and bagged drops but that is not us, we restore to factory original, or close to it. So, while this is not what we do... at least I think our guys did a good job of doing what we don't do.

Having walked around this truck over the weekend while the Arkansas Razorbacks kicked butt vs the Cincinnati Bearcats and Clem was watching the game, I can just say that this is a magnificent build.

Tuba Trucks do build Beautiful.

Well done Team.

Thanks Rian, It was a pleasure having you stay with us for a couple of days and the trip to Tom Myers Truck Parts in Miami, OK was a blast. Till next year, safe travels.

Sorry about the rant on the 63. It was a very frustrating build with lot's of do overs. I really believe we could have done two trucks in the time this one took.
Didn't mean to talk down anyones work with LS conversions or air rides. I know they are very cool and I appreciate the knowledge it takes to pull it off. I guess we just don't have it... fortunately, there's room for all of us. We will just keep doing what we do.

OK, I just ranted about the rant... geeezzz

It's that time of year again.
This is our 12th annual truck/car show and Toy Drive. Each year it gets bigger and more kids have a good Christmas that wouldn't otherwise. Most of you live too far away to come to the party but if you wish to donate you can send money to our paypal... rockhouse205@att.net
We will use the donations to purchase toys for very deserving children. The age group that we support are K through 6th grade. Thank you in advance... it's all about the kids.

Clem

Craig and I cannot make it this year but I am putting some cash over into the PayPal account to use toward something with wheels to bring some smiles.

This is so easy into rockhouse205@att.net and straight vis PayPal

I do pray that more people see this and respond with a Dollar or a Dime

A Penny or a Pound.

Miss you guys.

Re: tuba trucks

Thanks Rian and Craig,
Every donation helps. We have a kitty that we will collect donations in and go out and buy bicycles for the kids.

If some other members wish to help, even a donation of $5 is appreciated and will find a way to the kids. We make sure the toys get to the deserving single parent families or those out of work who would not be able to afford Christmas presents for their kids.
My wife Kim has a paypal account > rockhouse205@att.net < drop a few dollars in it... you will probably feel pretty good about helping.

Thank You, to all my cyber brothers.

Hopefully a help-wanted post will be ok with the forum. I can't think of a better way to reach exactly the people we need since everyone on here has an interest in old trucks.

If you are willing to relocate, I can help out with expenses. If you're retired and have always wanted to be part of something fun. If you are tired of working hard and not feeling good about where it's going. If you are passionate about working on cool old cars and trucks. If you're willing to try something new. If you feel like you are a pretty good mechanic with some old-school skills... Please PM me and we can discuss a job opportunity and I will get back to you with details.

You can call or email. Sorry no texts.
By the way, google Fayetteville, AR, it's a great place to live.

Thanks, Clem Johnson
