All the holes worked out perfectly. Helps having a drill press too. Had a hard time finding a 1 9/16ths fostner bit. Girl at the local wood working shop broke up a set for me. Sanded and sealed the undersides of the bed wood this afternoon.

Applied Eastwood coating to my ram horns. These will replace the mismatched manifolds that were on my 327. It took a bit of effort to blast them clean....I need a bigger compressor!!

I pieced together enough from eBay. You have to be real careful as I’ve seen some advertised as such but seem to lack OEM markings. Here’s a NOS example next to N OEM example - see the diamond mark common to both. I removed overseas made new nuts from my k20.

Sunday I went for a cruise in my truck, delivering my daughter's bed and frame to her new apartment. We just got back from a vacation to Italy, and cruise to the Greek Isles - so it was nice to come back home and drive the old truck, (after dodging all the crazy little Fiats over there). We also celebrated the birth of a new granddaughter!

Anyway - to stay on topic - I've replaced the window felt on the driver's window, new wheels and tires, just received new side marker lenses and ordered LED's for them. Replaced the radiator cap. This was all over the last couple of weeks. |

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter
I've been working on a glove box door restoration for an idea I have. Spent the weekend working on stripping paint. Either today's aircraft paint strippers are weak as water, or Chevy Truck paint is hard as nails, because I had to do a lot of power sanding and wire wheeling on these parts! The stripper barely bubbled anything at all - maybe a few square inches...

Cleaned up another cluster. Daughter painted the needles. Left the centers unpainted.
Not sure about leaving it all chrome or not. Either way the hokey tach is going away. |

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter
yesterday, finished the new bed install in the ochre longhorn..
took about a week start to finish, what a heap of work! Mar-K longhorn pine board kit, non-polished SS strips and bolt kit, rubber pads.. Jamestown Distributors Total Boat products; 2 coats deep penetrating epoxy, first 25% acetone 6 coats Gleam gloss spar varnish.. brushed, rolled, sanded, repeat, repeat....... wire wheeled, primed and painted cross members for the new wood.. anti-seized everything and all hand assembled and hand tightened with ratchet.. all done on the truck, bed lifted up on blocks by hand where required.. mom helped a bunch! quality control, held bolts down while I started hardware, etc. I'll save all the details for another thread but turned out fairly decent I think.. now everyone is afraid to put anything in it  ochre 71 longhorn done, red 71 longhorn and 65 C20 to go :waah: https://dl.dropbox.com/s/vkv8i3fwz83...15406.jpg?dl=0 https://dl.dropbox.com/s/ngrfind0c3q...16962.jpg?dl=0 https://dl.dropbox.com/s/f3g20w49l7s...18342.jpg?dl=0 https://dl.dropbox.com/s/486seksij5z...21709.jpg?dl=0 https://dl.dropbox.com/s/2pdv9laooc7...19203.jpg?dl=0 https://dl.dropbox.com/s/8avb8ss5fml...19900.jpg?dl=0 https://dl.dropbox.com/s/l8l9d44gekc...22431.jpg?dl=0 https://dl.dropbox.com/s/fa2511mbebh...23675.jpg?dl=0 https://dl.dropbox.com/s/itj35rn0zif...24267.jpg?dl=0 https://dl.dropbox.com/s/x76a6hyytw1...24532.jpg?dl=0 https://dl.dropbox.com/s/r60dtsq7uve...24837.jpg?dl=0 https://dl.dropbox.com/s/gui9z1rrthf...25100.jpg?dl=0 https://dl.dropbox.com/s/2gl2ybsne77...25308.jpg?dl=0 https://dl.dropbox.com/s/frsnngf9b1v...25521.jpg?dl=0 https://dl.dropbox.com/s/cah8kotd138...45262.jpg?dl=0 |

Got Old Red standing tall for the run to Louisville Ky for the 50th Street Rod Nationals. Heading out tomorrow with a couple of friends for the big go. If any one on the board sees me there, stop and say Hey. Looking forward to a super week end.
