Judging by the fact that your not afraid to redo anything, I say go for it!! I was able to keep every thing as it was, I had to relocate my air line and move my upper shock hole up one inch!! Once you get the motor out and clip off you can have it done in no time!!! I say do it!!

I really want to but im gonna wait till after i drive it a while and have the money to build.a 496 out of a spare block i have. This is just phase 1 of this build. If i keep it i plan on tearing it back down after i drive it for a while to build a motor. Powder coat everything and do all the body work with a glossy black paint job. Since this was my first build i didnt wanna go all out with the paint on the frame and stuff cause i knew i would need to change things like i have

Thanks you. Yeah I hear you man. The more I think about it I may have gone a little overboard on the painting for my first build:lol: but since I paint cars for a living it won't be a big deal to repaint some things if need be:lol:

haha i wish it were that easy
thanx man!!!
i got some updates today.. got one side of my exhaust pretty much all fitted and tacked together.. gotta make some more hangers then do alot of welding.. i made some pie cuts around the tranny crossmember to make it clear.. ill take some better pics of that when i go to weld it up.. was hard to get a good shot from under the truck
the exhaust is prolly gonna be way too loud but im gonna try it out and see how i like it.. i can always add more mufflers under the cab.

also i got a question?? since there really insnt room under the cab i thought about adding an H pipe right after where the the exhaust comes through the rear crossmember.. would i benifit much for doing this or is it a bad idea??

man thats pretty!!! ya im really tempted!! im running 2" drop spindles. i would like to be able to use stock ones like you are.. i bet ur ground clearance is way better than mine in the front.. and it goes lower!!! lol

When I added my cross over pipe (White '67 Camaro behind shop) the exhaust note did seem to be a little less loud.
Nice work on the exhaust.

Nice work on the exhaust.

ive been reading alot about it and im not totally sure if mine is gonna help me much.. i know they need to be as close to the motor as possible but im still gonna go for it

i did get a lil farther this weekend.. there first couple pics are of the mods i did to the trailing arm brackets.. since i set up my bag brackets with those huge lowering blocks the bags were bottoming out before going all the way down with the smaller lowering blocks (another nooby mistake learned the hard way :lol::lol:). so i made the holes on the trailing arm brackets about 1 1/2 lower than stock. it hangs just a lil bit below my crossmember but it wont be a problem because i wont be going low enough to touch that anyway since my front wont go that low.. im just gonna level it with some bump stops so it never drags anything in the rear.

also got my exhaust most of the way done.. just need to finish 1 more hanger, finish my H pipe and do all the final welding.. also gonna need to reroute the air line for the front bags now but thats no biggie.

its hard to tell from the pics but ive got about 3/4 inch of clearance between my exhaust and my tranny crossmember. btw all the exhaust under the cab will get heat wrapped to keep my fuel line as cool as possible

anyway enough blabbing and on with the pics

and ya i know this exhaust is gonna be a lil overkill being 3 inch on a basically stock 454 but one day i plan to build a pretty nasty 496 so i dont wanna have to upgrade that later on

Re: intro + 66 black bagged long fleet

looks like careful planning is paying off. there is alot of stuff going on in that small area.definitely think routing the exhaust thru the trailing arm front bracket is the way to go. no ground clearance issues.3 inch ehaust is HUGE. nice job

thanx Bazooka!!

i got a chance to do a little more work. im waiting on some header wrap and some flex couplings. then i will finally be able to finish the exhaust up.

besides that i got the holes drilled for the crossover pipe, and all the welding done today.

i noticed that some H pipes have a smaller hole than the diameter of pipe. I had a hole saw to cut a hole for a door knob so i just used that.. i believe it was 1 3/4"

anyway on with the pics

Nice fab work on the exhaust! Just curious to know if the smaller diameter hole in the H-pipe affects anything much (I'm no exhaust expert, haha)?

Re: intro + 66 black bagged long fleet

thanx man!
im really not sure.. i think its just so the pressures can equalize without too much exhaust getting trapped in the crossover pipe but thats just a guess.
