I did get some work done today I figured out how I am going to mount the old air unit without any visible fastners on the firewall. I made a bigger plate that bolts to the unit so I can access the mounting studs that I will weld to the firewall on the inside of cab. I added 3 extra mounting points to add some strength 7 in total.

Here are some pics of the truck I parted to build this one, I traded it to my buddy it's basically my old cab and frame he did everthing else good to see him making progress.
He went all out with the poterbuilt extreme setup with the extra frame stiffner. He has been talking about doing a build thread but just hasn't done it yet. |
Re: Brave or crazy? crewcab build
The ac mount plate turned out good :metal:

I finished up the firewall this is how it will look with no bolts going through the fire wall to mount the a/c unit.

Re: Brave or crazy? crewcab build
seriously awesome work. I am looking for a 1967 C-30 truck and then I will start mine. I'm going to need some help on the 4th door if you are still willing to help! lol
I want to build my burb into 67 1ton crew cab long bed 4x4. Chris |
Re: Brave or crazy? crewcab build
Nice work adapting the firewall to the A/C unit.
Are you going to go ahead and round off the firewall at the blower location to match the other side or are you going to leave it stock? |
Re: Brave or crazy? crewcab build
Nicely done!

Re: Brave or crazy? crewcab build
This is the best crewcab 67-72 ever built.
Love your attention to detail. |
Re: Brave or crazy? crewcab build
Dude you are just killin' it! :metal:
This is definitely going to rank up there as one of the most killer custom builds ever. You will win custom truck awards out the ying yang with this bad boy when it's done. This is one of the builds I'm on the edge of my seat watching. |
Re: Brave or crazy? crewcab build
I have been meaning to ask you for some time now and I always forget.
What did you do to reinforce the floor where you joined the two halves so that it wouldn't potentially sag over time? |
Re: Brave or crazy? crewcab build
Looking real good. I went ahead and modified my 72 door panel. So it can be done. Keep up the good work. Its fueling me to keep pushing on mine. Trevor

Re: Brave or crazy? crewcab build
Great work. One of the things I regret not doing to my firewall was smoothing off the drip rail ledge area on the firewall. When they are finished and welded they look so awesome. Great work on it.
