Re: Martin's mi-STRESS, 1965 Long Fleetside C10 "Rebuild in ENGLAND"
Thanks Rian it's funny looking at that picture you'd never guess how bad the truck was . I think I only have the tailgate , grill , and chassis left . The rest has either been upgraded or replaced .

Re: Martin's mi-STRESS, 1965 Long Fleetside C10 "Rebuild in ENGLAND"
Well with the change in my personal life causing less truck time . This weekend I managed to get some truck time , due to the new lady in my life going away on a girly weekend .
Friday morning I got an email fron Ron at STS imports to say my panels had arrived . So I started work an hour earlier so I could finish earlier . So as soon as I got home I headed over to Essex to collect my Bedsides . Bedsides loaded into the car http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...psgxzhqzcv.jpg http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...pscz3gsusy.jpg On returning home I unloaded them into the carport ready to unpack them once Kevon arrived http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...ps4wiupxrv.jpg So Saturday morning my friend Kevon , that used to work with me in the body shop , came over to my place . The main reason was to help me repair the damage in my cab roof . The before picture of the roof http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...ps8k7ko0mu.jpg Kevon's spot welding slide hammer http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...psltco8ajg.jpg This tool makes work on a panel that is double skinned so much easier http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...ps54mtuyyx.jpg http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...psjzovbi9y.jpg After pulling out the dents and also using it to shrink the panel , Kevon put in the first spread of body filler the roof Qhttp://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...ps1s7stmsp.jpg Then it was a question of blocking it down reload it with filler and repeat the process http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...pstjhikwqs.jpg http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...psdtsc3jti.jpg http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...psu3pr3gux.jpg All blocked ready for primer on Sunday http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...ps2flv7m9n.jpg Once the roof was repaired I got Kevon to help me lift out the bodysides from the boxes http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...psssyp9d0e.jpg http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...psxdybho0q.jpg It's great to think these panels have traveled all the way from Tennessee via Miami , then into a container onto a ship and there isn't even a ripple in them so it's a big thanks to DeWayne at Nsane HotRodz parts and Ron at STS for the bedsides and Kevon for his help on the roof Tomorrow I will get the roof into primer |
Re: Martin's mi-STRESS, 1965 Long Fleetside C10 "Rebuild in ENGLAND"
Looking good Martin. I've used one of those spot welders before they're a great bit of kit. The bed sides look good too, they will save you a load of time and really push the build forward. Seems like everybody's making progress except me :waah:

Re: Martin's mi-STRESS, 1965 Long Fleetside C10 "Rebuild in ENGLAND"
Truck looks great..
"girly weekend" lol gotta do whatcha gotta do. |
Re: Martin's mi-STRESS, 1965 Long Fleetside C10 "Rebuild in ENGLAND"
Nice score on the bed sides, I'm curious about how well they fit. The fenders and core support and grill surround that I got needed a lot of tweaking to work out but maybe the beds are better made.
Doing a great job Martin and we're glad your life has taken a positive turn. Stay after it bro… work is good for us. |

Re: Martin's mi-STRESS, 1965 Long Fleetside C10 "Rebuild in ENGLAND"
Well today Rian popped over as I was going to prep and prime my roof . So first I flatted the etch primer put on by the blasters with 180 then 240 grit paper . The next thing was to mast up the roof . But first I back masked the raised edge as to get a heavier mix of primer on the repaired section . Then I moved the paper and shot a thinner coat over the rest of the roof .
http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...psmsxbrotj.jpg http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...psxvm3zncd.jpg http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...pscaqazwix.jpg http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...ps4qnbbsjv.jpg http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...ps857wjkfz.jpg http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...pswz7yiikr.jpg So that's this weekend over , and I am happy to say the damaged roof is done so next job is to weld up the holes in the floor then shoot some colour on the inside . I can finally say it's going back together . Thanks to Rian for taking the photos |

Re: Martin's mi-STRESS, 1965 Long Fleetside C10 "Rebuild in ENGLAND"
you're another one showing us that you don't need a fancy shop all decked out in order to build what you want. Just a desire and some ingenuity go a long way. really enjoying following your build

Re: Martin's mi-STRESS, 1965 Long Fleetside C10 "Rebuild in ENGLAND"
Looking really nice! Those new bedsides are very very nice! Did you throw away the old ones yet Martin? Looking for a small repair section at the back, was going to use filler, but metal is better!
Keep up the good work, you may still get it on the road by the ne of summer! Danny |

Re: Martin's mi-STRESS, 1965 Long Fleetside C10 "Rebuild in ENGLAND"
Paul, I only need the back rear parts, from wheel arch back/half way up on the right side, and just the very bottom of the back on the left side, the rest is spare!

Re: Martin's mi-STRESS, 1965 Long Fleetside C10 "Rebuild in ENGLAND"
Well I went to look on my thread and noticed its on page six so I better update what's been going on . Unfortunately not much has been done to the truck . I am waiting on an anti roll bar ( sway bar ) and the mount brackets to arrive .
The rest of the time I have been so busy sorting out my house and getting my internet working five visits from my supplier finally got it sorted As for what's been happening my dog ripped his crucial ligament in his back leg so I had to empty my conservatory and build up a temporary wall so he only had a small section of garden he was then confined to the small area for eight weeks . http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...psaunuhxrx.jpg So with all this going on the last thing I needed was what happened next . On a ride over to Sally's I hit somthing in the road While riding my Harley and I went down the road resulting in two cracked ribs . Resulting in my bike being written off by my insurance company. I on the other hand took a few weeks to mend so no truck time . http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...pspqn5fqf9.jpg http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...psfzylmtvv.jpg http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...ps48ubzmto.jpg So with the bike written off and after an argument with insurance company over the value . They paid me out the full amount . So I decided to replace the bike , with a car after having to sell my Mercedes to pay off my ex , and still having another bike to use . I decided to get a Porsche Boxster the funny thing is after looking locally with no success. I found one just outside Glasgow . The best thing was Bill On this forum was not to far away from the car I was going to look at . I purchased two tickets to fly up to Glasgow where Bill met me and Sally at the airport ( Thanks again Bill )I had traded a pedal box that I had posted to him and he gave me the sway bar . He then drove use to collect the car but the sway bar was to big to go in it so it will need to be sent by courier. The car I collected and then had a 450mile drive home http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...pszw5upe1o.jpg http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...psob5zt004.jpg So after getting back with the car it was time to start packing as two weeks later it was time for my holiday to Cyprus with Sally a long needed break after all that had happened. Driving around in Cyprus in my hire car and in a lot warmer weather than back home http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...pscz3ttsdp.jpg http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...psgcsnzspx.jpg And chilling out down at the beach for an evening out http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...psqjx7wkgd.jpg And all chilled waiting for another beer http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...psxnqgalmf.jpg So with all this going on and getting back from holiday with the darker evenings and the cold weather . The body work can't be done as it too cold in the car port , but once I get my sway bar and brackets I will get that fitted . I will soon be finishing off the brake lines and the exhaust as I have two weeks off over the Christmas period. Then roll on Spring . |

Hi Martin, good to see you back on the forum, you've been having a bit of a torrid time.
Shame about the Harley, as I found out the last time I dumped a bike, ribs heal but bikes don't  Still every cloud they say has a silver lining and I see you've gone from this Attachment 1588827 To this Attachment 1588828 |

Re: Martin's mi-STRESS, 1965 Long Fleetside C10 "Rebuild in ENGLAND"
Well just an update. As I mentioned earlier I was getting a sway bar from Bill . Well today the mounting brackets arrived from America. Thanks to Paul (NevEno) . The sway bar was picked up by a friend of pete's in Brighton. So all being well I should be collecting it in a couple of weeks .
The brackets thanks again Paul http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...psijbq4blp.jpg |

Re: Martin's mi-STRESS, 1965 Long Fleetside C10 "Rebuild in ENGLAND"
First of all I would like to wish everyone that reads my post a Happy new year
Now for the update I didn't want to have to do . Those of you that read my thread know that my dog Bow had an operation on his leg , well unfortunately he started limping on the other leg . I took him to the vet and was informed the possibility of bone cancer due to the gland in his leg being swollen. Well the vets diagnosis was correct and on the 30/12/2016 he went in for X-rays that confirmed it had got worse. So it was time to let him go . I must confess to leaving the vets in tears , those of you that have had a dog will understand. He was only six years old . He would always come outside with me when I worked on the truck Taken about a month ago http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...psfvhatkqq.jpg I was also given a painting for Christmas by Sally's dad John . He new he was unwell but not the full extent of Bow's condition. I think he did a great job The painting http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...pslkn2hteu.jpg Thanks for looking in next update will be truck related as I have received some parts and would like to have it done or at least nearly there by this time next year . |
Re: Martin's mi-STRESS, 1965 Long Fleetside C10 "Rebuild in ENGLAND"
Sorry to hear about your loss. Awesome painting! Cheers mate! :mm:
Happy & Blessed New Year! |
