Why not grab a multimeter and source the parasitic drain?

Just a suggestion: I had a drain issue and it turned out to be a bad diode in the alternator.

It's supposed to be very common on GM alternators.

It's sort of a long story, but I've been working on it slowly when I have time. The next step will be to check for which circuit is drawing amps on the battery by using the meter and pulling fuses.:waah:

Thanks, and I was thinking the same thing. I just went to an internally regulated alternator and so far so good. I still have a feeling I'll be pulling out the meter and finding the current draw though.

In my opinion best and easiest way to test the diode block while the alternator is still on the engine is to do an AC ripple test with a digital multimeter. Just start up the car, turn on the headlights to remove surface charge off the battery. This will force the alternator to switch on. Next set the meter to AC Volts. With the engine running put the positive lead of the meter to the "BAT" terminal on the alternator and hold it there. Then place the negative meter lead onto the negative post on the battery. If you get a meter reading of more than 1.5 Volts AC (1 1/2 Volts AC) the diode block in the alternator is bad and needs replaced. Its a real simple test that only takes a few seconds to perform. Hope this helps!

Last night after work I got to put some PlastiKote Rust converter on a few of the many rust spots on Ole Brownie. The stuff works pretty good! I think I'm gonna need about a gallon of it!

I towed home a 1966 longbed parts truck. I have sooooo many parts for my 65 now that I had to store this at a friends house until I make room. LOL!

Tonight I finished welding up the plates for my rear cab mounts that cracked, stupid body lift the truck came with, all good and overbuilt now. Time to try out the newly built big block tomorrow.

Got the garage cleaned up. Unloaded the bed of the old truck from the move to the new house. Not enough hours in a day...

Decided a while ago i wanted some kind of tool box in my truck for storage, but the alluminum ones look out of place. Long story short i desided to make a wood box that matches the bed kinda, and got everything for free so far after trading a bunch of oak wood i had lying around for 2x8's and all the rest was just lying around my buddies garage...

Pics 1&2. Buddy griding off the extra long bolts on the angle iron for the box sides and the box

Pic 3. Mounted fishing rod holders and the spare tire to the sides of the box

Pic 4&5. Then finally installed the Awsome marine antenna (the fiberglass housing was cracked and broken, but i just hacksawed the bad stuff off and threw it back together) and the complete box!

Nice box... Careful with the handle... I see a broken rear window in your future...

Yesterday I stripped the step bumper and repainted it white. It will probably go on this weekend, I hope.

I had to cut the tow balls off, so unfortunately, they won't be going back on.

Put an inline fuse in the electric fan thermostat sending unit, it blew the fuse in the panel and baffled my tiny brain why the fan would not come on. Drove Toad for the first time in 6 weeks. Went over yonder and did burnouts.
I remembered why I like my pickemup truck. Sound of real V8 and the smell or burning rubber. :metal:

Thanks for the tip. I've been out of town for a couple of days (Portland, OR swap meet), but I'll be trying that soon! :chevy:
