Good work, are those trans. hard to adjust the shift linkages? Newest I ever mess with is 700r4. Keep up the good work.

Re: 1964 GMC 3/4 ton build :D

naah they are almost the same as the 700r4 same number of stops actually. The 700 lever fit that trans perfectly without any problems just had to space it to clear the casing. Will have some more pics up next saturday when I get the 2wd tail shaft housing in hand and in place thinking I may have to trim the ribs on it but will know more when I have the part in my hand and get it in place.

Ok the big week is coming soon another 40 hours of wiring work in the future. I orde3red direct from GM parts direct a 2009 cadillac l92/l9h harness for my truck. Once I get it in hand I will be taking pictures as I do the conversion to standalone and put them on here and my website. I also orders the fuseblock and relay modules for this engine as well so should have them soon also.

ok more progress got the oil pressure sensor in place and the water temp sensor done as well. pictures to follow :D
Waiting on gm parts direct for my harness at this time, will be picking up the 6l80 tailshaft saturday after my gear head meeting with pickups n panels.
Sean

the oil pressure gauge uses a 1/8 inch 27 thread pipe tap to get it into place. worked out beautifully. will be reassembling it and checking for leaks this weekend. I have oil splashed on that side of the cylinder block with no clear spot of origin so will be checking things there carefully.

here is the water temp sensor. it takes the same tap as the oil pressure on the gauge package I bought from TPI gauges.

ok gto the tailhousing in and was fiddling with it tonight amongst working on the brakes think I need to trim the mount bracket because it is at a slight angle right now not that that bothers me any I like quirky things in vehicles in the right places lol.

Take an eyeball,

Nice work, I'd like to come out one day and check that out, maybe learn something smart. My skills involve only one kind of computer, HEI, very little TBI, The rest stumps me alot. Keep up the good work, and good pics.

Re: 1964 GMC 3/4 ton build :D

yeah give me a shout I am usually off on saturdays so it would be a good time to catch me. I am taking the brake rotors back to the machinist so he can machine the sapcer bushing a bit more to get them where they slided on the studs better there is not enough play in them atm to make up for heat expansion during braking so we are going to fix that.

Found another interesting ls mod on another forum quite by accident today :D. check this out cheap high mount ac bracket using existing parts from chevy. Will have to change to an older style water pump to make it happen but looks dammed promising. Might even look at some cool flex hoses and see if they can route around the bracket assembly.

Sean

below is the link to the forum where they did this Cheers!

That's a cool trick. So tbi 4.3, cut, shim-brace, ac lines, metering orfice, accumelater, and oil replace the o'rings? Neat.

Re: 1964 GMC 3/4 ton build :D

Yeah Friday going to get an older truck water pump on order and see what I can do with it and the electronic throttle body. Hoping it will work just need to turn the neck a slight bit and get it aimed right.

Be carefull heating that aluminum up, once it melts it floods. Alternate top to bottem on both sides of the tube while useing the cheater pipe. Maybe put a wet rag on the motor?

Re: 1964 GMC 3/4 ton build :D

naaah will let my radiator expert do that one he does some neat stuff the pump will be off the engine when that happens :D.

I am attaching a pdf scan of one of the wiring schematicsI have aquired for those that are looking to do their own harnesses. This one is from a 2007 escalade 6.2 engine. I also have one for the 2008 chevy silverado and 2009 escalade if you want a copy emailed to you.

Ok been spending a little time on the ac bracket idea and here are some more pics of what I have so far. Trying to get a used ac compressor and alternator together to get them in place so I figure out how long a belt I am going to need for this setup. I got 2 of the 3 braces done and will include some pics of them and the bracket together.

Re: 1964 GMC 3/4 ton build :D

Be the best kinda spaghetti when finished and the motor will run. Gonna be adding a few circuits into the firewall plug for the mil and data link cisrcuits and also the throttle pedal wiring. Definielty got a busy few weeks ahead of me. I am currently waiting on the harness tools to come in to me at oreillys so I can de pin what I dont need and canabilize it into the harness mods.

Re: 1964 GMC 3/4 ton build :D

will have pics up tommorrow night the engine is in the truck and with the way it is mounted the transmission brackets just about slid into place on the frame mounting locations. Little bit tight on the radiator but will know more in the next few weeks when I throw the core support back and and check things out. I am definitely going to need headers the factory exahust does not clear the frame or mounts.

nearly finished with the fuel injection wiring section of the harness just waiting on a few parts to come in for it at the moment. Working on the mounting plate next for the injection harness. Will be throwing up some pics here pretty soon.
