Baby Steps... its coming along slowly. Ive decide that when i pull the box I'm going to install bigger notches and redo the suspension, it just sits too high in the back. Motor, brakes, steering, ignition all ready to go. I finished up the hood, cut and buffed and installed. I matched the nickle color on the wheels and am working on grill and front bumper now. All trim will be painted to match the wheels.

Any pics of the hood bottom side? Curious on how you terminated the vents.

I bent 1/8 round bar and welded the sheet metal all the way around and molded it in. I wanted a rounded end to the opening. I also made templets and bucks so i could have the mesh screen inset towards the driver about 3/8" came out pretty good

Pretty much what I played out in my head. I figured using round tubing vs. solid bar though. I started looking around for ideas on removing under-hood heat for my BBC in the dually. It's harder to do than you'd think when your trying not to mess the 'lines' up.

So, I did redo the whole back half, it just sat too high for me. New notches, bag positions and mounts, shock mounts, panhard, exhaust etc. I'm so glad I did! Yes, I should have done it the first time but this is my first time with airbags so you live you learn.

Often times people's customizations are not to my liking. I think the original design of these trucks is right on. But man do I like your hood!

Thanks! I stole the idea from a FB group. My hood was rust free but peppered with dents. I figured id give it a try and if it didn't work i was out nothing but time. For my style build, I think its spot on.

As far as peoples style goes? I'm with you but how boring would life be if our trucks were all done the same.

Update; The box is painted and ready for cut and buff. I had originally planned to widen a set of original wheel tubs but wasn't looking forward to the hours of work and wanted to keep some momentum. These tubs are for the Square body truck, the same as the 73 - 79 with out the flange. i had always planned on welding everything in the box rather than bolting it together so these made sense (and were cheaper)

Working on the bed wood. It'll be satin black with the strips matching the trim and wheels.

Mine is similar but will be bolted in. I like being able to un-bolt stuff if necessary.

I really like the wheel tubs. they look like they were made for the truck. do you think they could be modified with flanges to keep the bolt down look? I'm a big fan of your truck and the great work you've done.

Bed wood kit or your assembly? What are the wood dimensions?

I was @ a standstill on mine because I really needed a center board vs. a strip @ center. Your looks to have a board @ center which is what I needed.
That is a good preview of how mine will be though so Thanks! Although mine def won't be as pretty

These tubs are for the Square body and are 4" wider. The tubs for the 68 - 72 are exactly the same but come with the flange your looking for. mine were cut down 1" but it will depend on your bed height.

Thanks, yep i needed the center strip for my fuel tank so i made my own. The center 7 boards are 7.75" each and the outer two are closer to 9" but i layed all of the centers and drilled and then fit the outer boards for a nice tight fit.

I researched the major players for bed wood & the widest they'll do/cut is not wide enough for my approach. I purchased wood locally & will try cutting the center to match. I figure it won't be too bad & the wood was actually already planed on top/bottom (wood kits have it only planed on the top).
