Front clip off and my 3100 http://i1262.photobucket.com/albums/...ps86042607.jpg Here's a shot of one of the front pillar tips. They are both Solid as a rock! http://i1262.photobucket.com/albums/...ps7de26bf1.jpg Motor cleaned and degreased... Well sorta. Both valve covers were hand tight, wonder why it was leaking so bad??? http://i1262.photobucket.com/albums/...psff04b4ae.jpg Are the frame side cab mounts supposed to be bent like this one is? All of mine are. I'm guessing they should be straight but wanted to make sure. I'll update more once the patches start going in! |

Re: 72 k/20
I hung the doors from my parts 72 cheyenne. They fit and shut decent (probably have to play with them some more in a couple weeks when the clip goes back on) They just have some very minor rust spots in the lower corners. Should be easy to fix. I've got an almost perfect set of 67-71 doors with no rust but I want it to have 72 doors so that's why I used to orange doors. I still need to replace all the glass channel and such on them but they work for mock up. I also need a drivers sof-Ray window. I acquired the nearly perfect tool box bed in dark olive poly from member otsenre. The near perfect oe olive seat came from Ernesto as well. I've got patch panels in the mail and I'm picking up a nice oe four core radiator from dirts72/vintage windmills tomorrow. Also got an alleged real nice oe black steering wheel for free.(hasn't come in the mail yet) Been aquiring parts like crazy... And I've started to put the inside back together after I hosed the dust out of it(steering column, gauges, seat, etc) hopefully a month from now it'll be rust free and nearing road ready. Shooting to be driving it by the fall. Not gonna have a Purdy paint job for another year or two but it will be road worthy so I can enjoy it with my wife and daughter for the time being.

Re: 72 k/20
GMC Paul's has a high hump floor, I looked forever for one till I found him, he's a member here and says he doesn't sell junk, any posts I've seen with his parts seems to be positive. I haven't bought the floor but plan to.

Re: 72 k/20
Hey Tyler nice truck certainly taking shape nicely good to see another one saved keep the pics coming

Re: 72 k/20
Jeff, ya it's coming along slowly but surely. It's a whole lot easier to find decent parts out here than at home that's for sure!
Feller I should have said in here that I found the floor thru gmc Paul's website a while back but I just decided to patch what I've got instead. Thanks for the advice however! Here's some 4 core pics: http://i1262.photobucket.com/albums/...psd96b1cd9.jpg http://i1262.photobucket.com/albums/...ps8d9e6e72.jpg |
Re: 72 k/20
Well ive got a teaser pic:http://i1262.photobucket.com/albums/...psyahbct1n.jpg
The fender isnt bolted down at the lower rear tip so the gap is really better than it appears in the pic. Im going home to virginia for a few weeks at the end of the week, more pics will follow in August when I get back to New Mexico. |

Re: 72 k/20
Actually I've been meaning to update this thread for about a month now. I've got quite a bit done. The front floor is done but I need to finish the rear still. I've rewired (with nice used oe harnesses) both the fuse block harness and the under hood harness and converted it to a 10si internally regulated alternator. I slapped the four core I got from you in and it runs pretty good considering it's not been tuned up in only heaven knows how long. I've got it to the point that it will run around my property but it is far from being back together and road ready. Mainly I need to get the rear cab body work and rust repair finished, i.e. Cab corners, rear outer cab supports and rear outer floor sections. Cold weather came to fast to get it all finished up. I took the tool box for the bed apart last weekend and the door and liner are in amazing shape. Not a spec of rust any where on the door at all. The hinges and liner are also in excellent shape. I was pretty surprised. I'll get some pictures up in the next week or so. I've got to go thru my camera and round them up.

Re: 72 k/20
Glad to see your making progress.

Re: 72 k/20
Updates with pictures coming to this thread this week!!! Warm weather has been here for a week or two and I'm hoping its here to stay for a while! Gonna take some pictures of the progress tomorrow!
I'm nuts deep in passenger rear cab corners, outer floor and rear floor supports. The rust is almost GONE!:chop: |

Re: 72 k/20
Yeah, this weather has been awesome. You know we're in for the sucker punch sometime soon though... it's going to snow all March long. Maybe rain down your way. (Hopefully I'm just plain wrong.)
Looking forward to photos too! |
