Man, I missed your post, MJ! They look like twins! Other than wrestling on the 1.25 inch sway bar, I'm finally finished with the front suspension! Now time to bend some brake lines and get back to body work!

Inside of what remains of the rear cab support. Good metal. Might try to clean it up and only patch in the outer piece with new metal. Slowly backing into replacing the inner and outer rocker.

Engine Ready. Transmission Ready. Patched and painted firewall.Installed disc/disc 12” double diaphragm brake booster from a 2002 GMC Sonoma, and CPP master with disc/disc prop valve. Installation was a breeze with Captains bracket for converting to hydraulic brakes! On a related note, I now have all the hydraulics for the T56 clutch! Oh, and washed the windshield!

Drivers front cab support is done. Working on the passenger side. Making small holes into big holes only to discover about a pound ofJefferson County dirt!

Finally have the patches in place! Lesson: it is so much easier to buy patch panels - even I’ll fitting ones - and cut out what you need! Forming my patches to match the stock contours of the floor took more time than anything else! I didn’t weld all the way to the wall as rockers will be replaced soon and I wanted to keep some flexibility for removing the heavily rusted inner rocker panel.

Re: Travis' Tribute Truck - 65 Chevy C-10 Camper Special
Good to see you plugging away. Keep up the good progress. If you didn't already, I'm sure you hate rust now!

Re: Travis' Tribute Truck - 65 Chevy C-10 Camper Special
Thank you, Sir!
After failing to make significant progress for some time I started trying to just do a little work on her every day (30 minutes to an hour). This has helped massively in comparison to waiting for big chunks of time that never materialized... I hate rust, but it helped me become a much more confident welder! That said, this is why I’m painting everything in tons of POR15! I don’t want to do this again in 50 more years when I’m 90! |
