Well, getting back on this full steam again.
Actually been working on it but just have not been posting anything.
My main goal right now is to just get the truck running, driving and back on the road.
Body work and all that will be coming along later.
Just getting the truck back on the road is going to be a big accomplishment for me as it has been my dream for many years now.

So starting off...
Brakes are gonna need complete overhaul... Mainly the master cylinder.
I was gonna rebuild it but sorta changed my mind after closer inspection:lol:

Things starting to get a bit more pretty.
Not the best paint job but good enough for a truck that'll be put to work.
I won't be running this valve cover as someone else tightened a couple bolts down to tight without the proper washers and cracked it.

Got the engine in the truck.
Everything should be smooth from here right?

Re: 1976 green c10 custom deluxe

So After getting the engine in the truck and transmission all mounted up, I went to put the starter in witch for some reason I decided to do after I put the engine in, I found out I was gonna have to switch to a smaller clutch and flywheel in order to run my original bell housing, as my engine block was not drilled for the hole for the offset starter bolt pattern needed for the starter used with the larger 168 tooth flywheel.
For those that want to read more detail about that I will link the thread here:https://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/...d.php?t=844927

So Transmission is back in (again)
back to work on the brakes and waiting for the new valve cover to show up.
Also my aftermarket exhaust manifold I got does not have a heat riser installed so there's that I have to figure out.

Re: 1976 green c10 custom deluxe

The Right rear wheel cylinder bleeder screw was stuck and stripped so I pulled the brakes completely apart on that side.
Found my brake shoes were toast so got a set of those as well as a new wheel cylinder as my other one was to pitted to rebuild.
got all that put together yesterday.
Today I installed the new master cylinder and started the bleeding process... went ok until I broke off the bleeder screw on the left rear cylinder:(:drama:
I think that's It for me for today.
Hopefully I can salvage the wheel cylinder if not I'll just get a new one.
But were moving forward folks I'm starting to really really want to get in and drive this thing!:chevy:

Well I have spent the last couple weeks working hard on the truck getting all the parts and peices put on the engine to get it started.
Finally Today, after a very long time (something like 3 years too long lol) I got the new Engine started! There is still a lot to do to the truck before I can get it back on the road but it feels great to see and hear the engine run! I'm going to be posting a lot more regular updates as I continue to get this thing road worthy so stay tuned!:chevy:

I've had the seat out for a wile its nice to get it back in.
I still need to order a new seat cover the old one was still in one piece but was loosing all its fibers by the millions and they would get all over my clothes every time I got on or off the thing so I decided it would just be best to replace it.

So after getting the engine running I decided to drive the truck down to what was my Grandfathers shop and work on it down there. I had to run the truck off a small gas can since I have removed the fuel tank for cleaning since it was half full off water and old gas. It was my first time driving the truck (with it moving under its own power) so it was pretty exciting.
Also exciting is the fact that it was the first time it had moved under its own power in 18 years!

Last weekend I worked on putting the fuel tank back in the truck.
Got it all hooked up got the engine started and then checked to make sure none of my fuel lines were leaking I looked under the truck and yeah... Disappointing... Yup that's just the way it goes... I have ordered a new tank, it should be here within the week.

I threw on a hood I found at a junkyard but its only slightly better than my old one.
It's rusty and folding in half too however someone has tried to brace it up at some point, they just did not put the brace at the main stress point for some reason...
I'm gonna try to re-brace it and use it for now until I can find another one.

Wow you made a lot of progress with the engine, good job. And it looks pretty too!
I came aboard for the interior, I love that color also. Those 2 point lap belts are my favorite, I enjoy restoring those.

I like your truck, triple green is something you sure don't see on new vehicles. Love the I6, too.

I'm sorry to hear about your grandparents.

It's great to see the progress you have made. You painted that engine up nice - it looks like it's glowing in there.

The Heater core was leaking so I pulled the the heater box out.
It looked about as expected mouse nests and all lol.
I have my new heater core just have to get the box cleaned up and get it installed.

With the heater box out I did find my inside plastic door lock piece I lost down the defrost vent years ago, so long ago I forgot it didn't match the drivers side one lol owell it's better than nothing for now I will try to find a correct matching one later on.

Some of the things I've gotten done over the last several weeks...
Got the grill, headlights and all put back on.
over time I must have lost one of the screws for one of the turn signal covers so I found another screw and made a spacer for it.
sadly I dropped one of the turn signal covers on the cement floor in the shop and busted a big chunk out the corner O well life goes on.
I had an extra cover but it was one with the trim on it so I just popped of the trim piece. You can kinda tell that it used to have the trim on it though as the outer edge is less faded. It sorta bugs me but it will have to do for now. I actually had a pair of the covers with the trim but I want to kind of keep the original look of this truck, for the most part anyway.

Also I made a new control lever for the heater controls since one was broken.
made it out of some flat plate aluminum. have not decided if I will bother coming up with a knob piece for the end of the lever. Honestly I dont know if I would do this again it took a long time to make but whatever it does work.
I would suggest to anyone else it would be best to just find another set of controls Lol.
