And more...
Please excuse the rusty washers on the hinges!
Was all I had on hand Lol but I plan on cleaning them up with a wire brush.
I'm not sure yet if I'm going to paint the hinges or leave them as is.

I still have to decide what latches to use and do some more painting.
Been kinda taking a break from the truck lately but I plan on getting back on it soon!

Re: 1965 C20 Dump truck

Wow, it's been a long time since I last posted!

I have not got to much done on the truck over the summer as I was sick off and on and had to work on the clutch on my other truck(98 chevy) and just got busy doing other things.

I was recently using the truck to haul firewood until the right front wheel cylinder started leaking.
I have the wheel and drum off but still need to remove the wheel cylinder and decide if I want to replace or rebuild it.

I will try to post more regularly as I get things done on the truck as there is still very much to do.:chevy:

Re: 1965 C20 Dump truck

Small update, I ended up just putting a kit in the wheel cylinder and it seems to be working fine, but now I'm having engine trouble again... Went to drive the truck to tryout the brakes and was having trouble with the engine dying out/having no power in any other gear besides 1st.
The symptoms seemed to Me like it was running out of fuel (My gas gauge does not work) so I added some gas and it seemed to run better but still not perfect.
I decided to have a look at the fuel filter in the carb. and just as I figured it was all gummed up with crud.
So I ran the truck some more without the filter in line and it is now running better but as before, still not perfect.

So now I suspect that some of the crud made it past the filter and into the carb. witch means of course that another carb. cleaning is in my near future.
It's always something with these old trucks LOL.

Looks like you have a really solid NW area truck. I have a brother in Portland and that I have visited a few times. Being up there looking at the old cars and trucks still around, they are in WAY BETTER condition than the trucks you see in the central United States. Hopefully I can get back up there in a year or two.

It's not perfect but it's not bad either, only has a small rust spot in the hood, one of the doors, and the very bottoms of the cab corners are gone but I plan to fix them. It's also had some other rust spots in the past that are all ready fixed.

I really feel sorry for you guys that have to deal with the super bad rust problems in your part of the country.

Of course things rust here to but not like they do over there!

It's been a long time since my last post!
Sadly I have not got a lot done on the truck since my last post either. lol.
Just been doing other things and my money is limited right now.
Also been poking around with the 76 c10 and my station wagon.
I'm going to try to get back work on this truck and post some updates soon. :chevy:

That's how it goes sometimes. The good thing is that your truck will always be ready for you when you can get back to it

Re: 1965 C20 Dump truck

So wow it's been over a year since I last posted in this thread!
A lot has happened in my life over the last year but sadly not much to this truck.
So I got a real job in August 2020 actually almost a week after my last post!
So my free time has disappeared but my wallet has gotten a bit fatter. Imagine that! Lol:lol:
So then I decided to get my 76 C10 going (been wanting to do that for a long time)
Dug into that engine a found the block was cracked and bought another block to rebuild (almost done) and so on. For any of you interested you can check out my build thread for that truck (link in my signature below)

Anyway back on this truck it needs a lot of work still lol I will give a updated detailed list of what it needs in a later post.
This truck will be getting more attention as soon as I get the 76 running and driving wich should hopefully be very soon.

Re: 1965 C20 Dump truck

Well Not much of an update but I did start the old truck and took it for a short spin on the property it had been sitting for way to long lol. Can't wait to get back on this one again once some of my other projects are under control.

I would like to add that sadly My Uncle, the man who built this truck, has been diagnosed with cancer as well as other health problems. He was placed on at home hospice care a few weeks ago.
I would like to ask anyone who feels led to if you can keep him and his wife in your prayers.

Re: 1965 C20 Dump truck

My uncle passed away this last Sunday, I will really miss him, I didn't see him much these last few years and there's a lot of things I wish we could have talked about that we never got to but I Will always remember the things I learned from him and the time we did get together, and am grateful I was able to see him one more time before he passed.
I am grateful to have gotten possession of this truck he built as well as recently something else I will be sharing with you guys in the next few days so stay tuned for that.

Rest in Peace Uncle Sam...

This thread is about my 65 but I thought I would throw this in just keep you that follow this thread informed with what I am up to.
Since I already have four Chevy trucks I figured one more couldn't hurt...
I just finished up the deal today with my Aunt for my Uncle's 1978 c20
It's a bit rough around the edges but should eventually make another great work truck.:chevy:

Edit: sorry about the sideways pics it's getting late I will try to get them turned tomorrow.

Sorry to hear about his passing. Good to see you able to keep some vehicles in the family and trying to get them fixed up.

Thanks 350tacozilla, My Uncle bought, sold and traded a lot of cars in his life he probably had well over five hundred cars and trucks over his lifetime (not kidding) and they were mostly chevys. Most of them are probably long gone but
I am glad I'm able to have gotten these two trucks of his, out of all of his trucks
he had through the years these two were probably the ones he either kept the longest or put the most work into. I plan on keeping both these trucks and or keeping them in the family as long as I am able to in his memory.

Anyway still not sure how to turn the pic's but here's a shot from after I got the truck home...
