Done yet? Whats the drop on the spindles? I was thinking about puttting some on my 64 but I think my headers will drag. Guess I'll have to get some shorty headers. Should heave got them in the first place.

Here it is at its new height!!!!:metal: Like it alot!! Dave, the spindles are 2.5''. First up are the brakes and then went to battle with the rear. One bolt came out like it was brand new and three fought and lost:lol:.......
The bottom spring bolts got ground down and pounded up thru the trailing arm. The tops came out by using the air chisel and folding the retaining plates and then sawing off the bolt with a sawzall. I had an extra set, so I didnt care about preserving them. Visit the pic of the aftermath :smoke:. Included a pic of the 4''HD springs I had for comparison. |

Didn't get the panhard in as I was getting tired, but wanted to drop it down and see what it looked like. Here it is. Started mocking up the ms/cyl and went out and got new brake lines. The people at Autozone didnt know what they were:haha:......I took them in back and showed them and then picked up flare fittings and so forth.
I was going to cut a gasket out of a sheet of material I had and found three T-stat gaskets. Check it out; they're perfect for brake cylinders!? Lucky I guess. Bolted in the ms/cyl so I can start working some lines in at some point. Later........ |

BTW, the only qualification Auto-Zone has for employees is that they have half a brain and the propensity to argue with every customer. Example; telling me the 400 small block valve cover gaskets are the same as my 400 Pontiac.... IDIOTS!:uhmk: |

Bleeding the brakes using a jar of brake fluid and a line from the bleeder works nice.
I have used this method for decades with fantastic results. |

OK, the brakes are still F'n with me, but the fluid is through and its just a matter of getting the rear done. Worked on some other stuff today....
Drivers window regulator was shot so I replaced it. I guess the PO lubed the regulators with every bearing service!!:lol: They were covered in grease!!! I actually used engine degreaser and rags to clean up the inside of the door. Took apart my windows and lubed everything and got it back together. Also threw some insulation in the door panels before reinstalling. Took a shot of the door without the vent; damn, one piece windows would look good on these doors!!:smoke: |

Been very busy working many hours and then had people come in for T-giving. Therefore I haven't posted an update in awhile.
I decided to look into the rear brakes and they were a mess. They were due for a rebuild so I decided to get it all done. Didnt take a bunch of pics as we've all been there. First pic the old set-up; adjusters all the way out and the shoes cracked in the center at the rivets. Drums were grooved and wheel cylinders were shot. One was frozen, the other beginning to leak. Got all my parts at local auto stores. Wheel cylinders, shoes, hardware and new drums. Used the FAQ thread to stare at some pics of a drum rebuild as it's been awhile. Goes together easily after you start doing it. Have a pic of the completed brakes and one of the new tires mounted on the 6-lug rally wheels. Went with 235/70/15's for the old school kinda look. I'm also adding relays to the headlites and repainting the grill and bumper as I hated the black. They are silver now....more pics soon. |

I've worked on this one quite a bit and haven't updated in awhile. Just drove it around today for the first time and it was nice.
Let's see: Relayed the headlites, repainted the grill and bumper, bolted on the Rally's with 235/70/15's, new hoses, filters, cut out about 20' of unused wiring, new brakes, installed volt and tach, rewired a bunch of stupid crap, tool box in but not mounted.......you all know how it goes!!!:lol: Anyway, had a fuel pump on the list yesterday and decided not to get it and sure as sh!t it leaks!!:waah: Easy one to fix.
