Re: Pink Dually of Death
Well scrap the Ford steering box idea, I just remembered that the steering arm faces forward on a Ford & rearward on a GM.

Re: Pink Dually of Death
Your going to have to cut up the stock fiberglass fenders if your gonna sfbd it have to raise them to clear the 22 or 24 why not just widen them too? I plan on taking up the entire lane with mine... Even with a narrowed rear end yor still gonna have to raise the fenders
|
Re: Pink Dually of Death
Raising the fenders is a lot easier than stretching them, and stretched fenders make the truck look funny to me. I'm gonna narrow the stock dually axle ( not gonna use a C&C axle ) & get custom axle shafts made to fit 22s between the stock width fenders.

Re: Pink Dually of Death
You could use a jeep steering box or 1 from a 88-98 chevy as they are both mounted on the inside of the frame
|
Re: Pink Dually of Death
when you get ready to scrap that backhalf let me know...Ill take it. Im looking to get myself a dually as well.
|
Re: Pink Dually of Death
If your still going with this project and going RHD, the power steering box from an 88 up will work with minimal fab work, its what we use down here in Australia for power steer conversions, pretty straight forward swap, only have to lengthen the draglink to suit
|
Re: Pink Dually of Death
Why not use a rear steer LHD rack flipped around to a front steer RHD?
Cool truck, can't wait for more updates :metal: |
Re: Pink Dually of Death
been a bit since ive been on here but i got the dually to my shop and im going to try and salvage as much of the frame work thats already been built.. ill be putting in some new 2x4 notches along with making a bridge/gooseneck hitch

Gonna put on the front fenders so I can put the core support on and cut off and moved down... Just mocking up the front before I have to cut the rear off |

guy is giving me the stock cab bushing sleeves this weekend also guy is going to be shipping out my motor mount perches.. as for it not being low enough.. tell me about it... heres what im thinking i was plannin on running 24's but now im thinkin a 22/24 combo its layin pinch now with bout 1.5" of clearance under the frame rails, so im thinking maybe doored on 22's and 24's if the 24's won't go over my bed rails if that doesnt work then ill do all 22's gotta buy some 3/4 ton spindles and i have to buy my 3/4 ton rotors and calipers too and then get longer arms made im working on z'ing the front right now.. front was z'd way too much in the first place |
