Re: Project NOT4SLE

Another week has gone by and I finally got back out to work on the truck. Installed a manual fuel pump, new water pump gaskets as one of them ripped with moving and tightening the new water pump on. And FINALLY SHE IS RUNNING.

Seems to run very strong. I wonder if 81k is original miles. the seat and pedals are not worn so maybe.

Re: Project NOT4SLE

nah you can tell a low mileage truck because it won't have oil/dirt buildup on the frame/engine/firewall, etc. But the engine may have been rebuilt or replaced at some point. As long as it runs strong is all that matter though eh? Be sure to run some ZDDP in your oil or some Valvoline VR1 to stretch your cam as far as possible.

no my daily driver was stolen.

Project Vegas got put on hold while i finish getting this one driving and in great looking condition.

I have a plan of powdercoating another SWB frame, installing air ride suspension and an LS motor. Then make it in to project Vegas.

On a side note I purchased a new Optima red top battery today for the truck in preparation of getting it in great running conditin. I am hoping the old battery was just old but who knows. It was not holding a charge. Ill install the red top and see what voltage output was.
I am cleaning the set belts probably on Tuesday and reinstalling them and the seat. Tomorrow I have to ship some doors after work and then go to sleep to head back to work :metal: GRAVES rule. LOL

I am tickled pink to get this truck out of the Driveway and onto the road just to even drive her around the block.

It is really odd how on old vehicles you replace on part only to have another part have to be replaced as it goes bad as soon as the new part is installed.

They are wallet eaters basically. As I get one thing checked off the list I think of three more I'd like to do "since I already went this far, I might as well......"

Well I wanted a little more then a 4/6 drop so I decided 7. instead of blocks and needing to route an exhaust I called porterbuilt up. Now I am htinking about air ride on my next ttruck. not to mention I want a daily driver air ride truck, a muscle truck and a 4x4 like the stock lifted red and white one on this board. I am not a purist when it comes to these trucks either. but that red/white with stock trim looks great!!!!

Yes sir, AM always here for Sema... hunting starts the next week. Besides it is a week very hectic at work and so we do not get days off and are authorized to work 7 straight days that week.

Project Vegas will be starting from scratch. plans have changed a bit with her as I do up htis daily driver. i am starting with a powdercoated chassis that will be porterbuilt Air ride. It will be super clean and not sure all the details. I know for sure it will be an LS2 set up. I want to do up a SUPER clean daily driver.

Re: Project NOT4SLE

Here she is actually in the street :lol:

First time since bringing her home that i moved her from the driveway. Needed some tranny fluid after the roll backwards but then she moved forward so i could clean the driveway, seat belts and other stuff off.
Got underneath and did a little more degrease and pressure wash too. Getting her in driving condition real soon.
she starts right up as well!!

I removed the front bumper brackets to clean them up and powdercoat them black. i have 72 outers but want to run a 70 bumper so i think i need those inners.

Wow. This truck is looking good. I'm a lil jealous that your truck looks to sit more level front to back than mine. If you get a chance, will you measure the distance between the ground and the fenders(front and back)?

I cannot remember the measurements off hand but When compared with someone elses measurements It was about 3" low in the back. Like the springs are way sagged.
Ill measure for you later and tell you tire size as well.

Re: Project NOT4SLE

Had time to make it to the DMV today and get a 15 day temp tag to put on the truck so I can get it smogged and registered hopefully tomorrow.

Hopefully I can pass vin inspection with no grill installed. I am going to reinstall the rear bumper and front bumper I had off another truck to hopefully slide by.

Ill keep everyone updated. !!!:metal:

I might be able to get this driving tomorrow.
