What do you guys think, roll pan or bumper? I'm keeping the door handles, sport mirrors, and factory tail lights, so I'm kinda leaning towards keeping the sport bumper.

The gate looks nice! I agree with Dennis, sport bumper will better flow with the rest of the truck.

Re: CeeTen's build

Thanks, I took some measurements before I pulled the bed and it looks like I can tuck the bumper about an inch and a half closer to the body to really make it flow. And Dennis, just came from your build thread, you can probably expect tons of questions when I get close to installing a 6.0. Your chassis is looking great!

a little heads up for the ac heater panel. I just put a led bulb it the existing place and it looks good. I bought some bulbs off ebay they have 5 little leds one in center and four on the outside edges. Looks good id put up a picture but photobucket said i exceeded the limit. Its a clear bulb but still shines blue because of the green strip on the control panel

That's good to know, I'm afraid the way I did it will be to bright. I may look into that.

CeeTen, I am pretty impressed with the metal work man, I think this is going to be a damn nice truck. I like the idea of putting the sport bumper back on.

When it is all said and done I think it should be a pretty clean truck

Well, made a little progress, got the bed and tailgate in epoxy, started on the bodywork. I got pretty disgusted on the tailgate though. I worked on it most of the day and can't get the bodyline straight where the skin blends in. Any of you guy's have any tips on getting a good straight edge?

Re: CeeTen's build

Get the flat area straight, then run a tape line across it. work the contoured area to the tape.

Like Jonboy stated, use some tape as your sanding line (sand up to it but not beyond). Once one side is done, re-apply tape to the opposite side & work it the same (from the opposite direction).

Both. A roll pan (to tie the sides & under the gate area in w/the rest of the rear sheetmetal) that's notched for the sport-bumper brackets.

I don't need to repeat, or add to, what Jonboy & SCOTI both said. But I will suggest using that air board to get things close and then use blocks to truly get things blocked straight. You will have much more control by hand.

Re: CeeTen's build

That sounds like a great idea! I chased that bodyline all day, seems like I sanded off a half gallon of Rage Extreme.
Thanks!

Well, Guess it's time to get started again. Got really frustrated and left it alone for a while after the tailgate whipped my but. Picked up a freebie 12 bolt. Anybody know of a good disc kit that uses factory calipers and rotors? Not too concerned with keeping the parking brake....

Re: CeeTen's build

Slow....Spent most of the summer working on an old ski boat, paint clear and interior.

The truck is now on air, six link rear with air-lift bags, the front is bagged with stock control arms. Still keeping the factory bed floor and inner fenders. Not going for a frame dragger and not cutting the body up. More of a pro-touring look is what I'm after. I'm at work for another week, I'll post some updated pics when I get home. Maybe this year somebody will light a fire under me and I can make some more progress....
