well, the rear shock issue is solved. with a little help from 72blckbuty, I was able to cross reference the KYB shocks he got with his ECE kit to a Monroe shock with the same mounting dimensions.

come to find out, the shock that I bought was for a 92-02 Toyota Tacoma. the compressed length was 12" and th extended length 19". completely aired out, my shock length is 13", so I still have a full 6" of travel before I hit the upper limit. the upper and lower mounts fit the ECE rear shock relocator kit. the best part is that these shock were made in the US, and they were only $20 at Oreilly! Nice! The KYB's were double that cost. told you I was on a budget!

We have a very similiar setup. I never thought of mounting the exhaust like that. I like that alot. If you look at my build i have a really cool place to mount your compressor and tank. My compressors and tank are hidden. Peek at my build. Here is a pic or two. I modified the tank mounting brackets a bit. Fits nice and snug up there. And the compressors are behind it on the frame...

now onto the front shocks. this is going to be a bit more of a challenge. found a set of Monroe shocks that may work but I have to order them. oh yeah, they were originally made for a.........drumroll an AIRSTREAM TRAVEL TRAILER!! :lol: they are short, have good travel (no pun intended), and will fit without modification. if these work, I'll post the part number and where I got them from.

I've had a little time at lunch to work on a complete schematic of my intended system with part numbers, manufacturer, prices, descriptions, dimensions, etc. I have it in Autocad, but I will convert to a pdf and post this as well.

I have also been three dimensionally designing a tank/compressor/valve box that will installed under the bed on Pro-Engineer. I'll post a rendering when I get a few more loose ends tied up.

Be interested to see the setup you're designing for the tank/valves. Also interested to see the part number on the shocks. I got Monroe 33033 for mine. It's the one ART uses for their air ride front end.

I just got finished taking back my 33033 Monroes. They were approximately 1" too short on compression. the compressed length was 10.13" and the maximum extended height is 14.50". when I lifted the entire front suspension up to aired out height, the shock bottomed out.

sooooo, I found a 555002 Monroe RV shock that the compressed length is 8.63" and the extended height is 12.25". I should be able to use this one and still have room on the compressed end for future lowering (i.e. weld in lca cups or tubular lca's).

..... or that's at least what I'm thinking.

What's the collapsed height of the Dominator D2600s?

Keith, compressed height is 2.8" since I cut the drop in cup down 5/8", I gained a bit of drop.

I then going to raise the front lca assembly up to 3" from drop in cup to bag plate, but the shock bottomed out approximately .75" before I got there.

That's like having a 3" spacer between your cup and upper bag plate.
PLus with the 12.5" extended bag height,... will your shocks be long enough?
(I know the up direction isn't as important and the air'd out numbers)

how's this for interesting. the Oreilly brand shocks I had on the front, before going to air, compresses a full 9.5" from eye to eye. that means it may work. now I'm heading to the garage to bolt everthing up and take a pic........

here's a pic of the tire/wheel mounted and the shock completely compressed. the tire is touching the inner fender, but what bothers me is that the shock is compressed fully. I would like to have at least a bit of travel left.

maybe I'm being overly paranoid, but dropping a frontend down onto a set of shocks doesn't seem right, or correct.

Doug,... with your cup in the lower a-arm,...
what's the distance between it and the upper plate?

I keep thinking your bag will bottom out before the shock.
