Re: 68 Burb... here we go!!

well I got my butt in the garage today and started removing, cutting, grinding off all the stuff in my way to start bolting my rear stuff on. I do have a question on removing the rear wheel tubs. To remove them am I going to have to cut them out? I removed all the bolts around the base of the tub but I only see a seam that is sealed that runs the length of the tub. Is that were it is mounted by? Any removal ideas? I have pics that I will post up tomorrow I just want to clean up the mess so I can snap some photos.
Thanks guys.
Juan

cool...glad you're working on it. I believe there is a seam sealer in between that's holding them together but they come apart...the trucks are like that.

Looks like the inner skin of the wheel well and the quarter panel join together. I wonder what that cut will look like..... And the fitment of the tub will fit in there.

Look at Frizzle Fry's Tahoe build. He did what you're talking about and has a lot of good pictures.

Re: 68 Burb... here we go!!

keV yes I got the pb rear kit with shock bar, panhard, bridge and trailing arms. I had a sectioned front crossmember that I was going to sell. I was planing on running a dm but now I'm not sure. I will be installing the sectioned crossmember and just trim down my spring cups. Let's see were that gets me.

here are a few pics of some of the progress. I have removed everything that will be in my way. I took it all out from the trans to the rear bumper. I left the crossmember thats infront of the gas tank and the one behind it.

ok well I have been working on it for the last couple of days. If I could go back to when I ordered the stuff I would have gotten the bolt in kit. Main reason I did not was Nate said I would have to cut more of my floor out and I did not want to... well... that plan went to pot. I got 90% of it done. I will be placing the rear end in place with the PB arms so I can line up and weld my bag plates on the rear end. I am still trying to figure out the panhard bar mount that welds on to the frame... Ill get it. Here are some pics of what has been done this weekend. I hope to have it rolling by the end of the year.... I guess time will tell. Enjoy.

I'll post pics in the am but I just put her down on all 4's for the first time in a long while. She is LOW!! Lol. I need to roll her out of the garage and do some cleaning in the garage. Still need to weld in my panhard, then clean it all up and paint it. I'm getting excited!!!!
