Re: '72 Chevy SWB, Project Driver
Very nice progress on the truck! It is shaping up really nicely!

Re: '72 Chevy SWB, Project Driver
Bought a new to me tool to help with the truck. Still better ones out there, but its better than what I had and it was $125 including the full tank.
http://i104.photobucket.com/albums/m...y/P1040322.jpg Heres the one I was borrowing. I'm not sad to see it leave:lol: http://i104.photobucket.com/albums/m...y/P1040324.jpg |
Re: '72 Chevy SWB, Project Driver
Sounds like a deal especially with a full tank.

Re: '72 Chevy SWB, Project Driver

Re: '72 Chevy SWB, Project Driver
Had to test out my new toy.
Before http://i104.photobucket.com/albums/m...y/P1040328.jpg After, Should look pretty good with a bit of filler. http://i104.photobucket.com/albums/m...y/P1040330.jpg Next was the bed. Old front panel http://i104.photobucket.com/albums/m...y/P1040329.jpg Bed floor http://i104.photobucket.com/albums/m...y/P1040332.jpg http://i104.photobucket.com/albums/m...y/P1040331.jpg Needed to get that junk out of my way http://i104.photobucket.com/albums/m...y/P1040336.jpg These go in next, but I still need a new bed floor half so if someone has one or a patch let me know! On a side note, I'm very impressed with Mar-K's stuff so far. http://i104.photobucket.com/albums/m...y/P1040337.jpg http://i104.photobucket.com/albums/m...y/P1040335.jpg |

Inner bed side patch panels welded in.

Re: '72 Chevy SWB, Project Driver
Making some killer progress!
|
Re: '72 Chevy SWB, Project Driver
Great progress. Keep at it.

Re: '72 Chevy SWB, Project Driver
Thanks guys!
Painted the back of the cab, ground my welds and installed the new front bed panel. Also temporally tacked the front of the bed to the cross member because it doesn't sound like my front bed floor half will be here anytime soon. http://i104.photobucket.com/albums/m...y/P1040363.jpg http://i104.photobucket.com/albums/m...y/P1040364.jpg |

Re: '72 Chevy SWB, Project Driver
Thanks everyone.
Did a little dent pounding today followed by changing my mind and going ahead and fixing the speaker grille area in the dash. So apart came the dash. http://i104.photobucket.com/albums/m...y/P1040368.jpg This panel will need to be replaced, but looks a little better not bent up under the truck. http://i104.photobucket.com/albums/m...y/P1040369.jpg http://i104.photobucket.com/albums/m...y/P1040375.jpg You can see what was wrong with the speaker grille in this pic. I think I'm going to shave the grille:metal: http://i104.photobucket.com/albums/m...y/P1040082.jpg http://i104.photobucket.com/albums/m...y/P1040374.jpg |

Re: '72 Chevy SWB, Project Driver
Been a while since my last update. Took a vacation to MN for two weeks and just had a lot going on. I got some done today though.
Speaker hole in dash welded up. http://i104.photobucket.com/albums/m...y/P1040376.jpg http://i104.photobucket.com/albums/m...y/P1040378.jpg Onto the sun roof. http://i104.photobucket.com/albums/m...y/P1040718.jpg http://i104.photobucket.com/albums/m...y/P1040719.jpg Hopefully I'll have the sunroof fully welded and ground down tomorrow. |
Re: '72 Chevy SWB, Project Driver
Man your making alot better progress than me. I haven't worked on mine in two months. Keep at it, it's looking good!
|
Re: '72 Chevy SWB, Project Driver
Nice progress. Just be sure to weld slow and switch from one side to the other to keep the heat down....don't want an oil can roof ;)
|
Re: '72 Chevy SWB, Project Driver
Looking good. I like your temporary fasteners for holding the patch panels too.

Re: '72 Chevy SWB, Project Driver
Thanks everyone

Welded a little more on the roof, still not done. Not sure how its going to turn out yet. I've already had some major "oil canning" which I cured with some pie cuts, but I really don't think its possible to get it perfect. I'll worry about re-skining the roof when it comes time for a good paint job....years. http://i104.photobucket.com/albums/m...y/P1040721.jpg I did get my new radiator in, after the "good" one I bought turned out bad. I bought it off of ebay, $165 to my door. Its a 2 core radiator and when I emailed they said it had one 1" core and one 1/2" core. I think they are wrong, looks like two 1" cores to me:metal: I can only hope to test the abilities of this radiator! Only complaint is the rad cap comes very close to the hold down, clears though. http://i104.photobucket.com/albums/m...y/P1040726.jpg http://i104.photobucket.com/albums/m...y/P1040722.jpg http://i104.photobucket.com/albums/m...y/P1040723.jpg http://i104.photobucket.com/albums/m...y/P1040725.jpg |
Re: '72 Chevy SWB, Project Driver
looking like good progress! I've been looking at the aluminum rads on ebay...you'll have to keep us up to speed on how it works for you. should do well. What store was it from?
