Teal green huh? is that what the lower part on your trucks body is?

Also a towboat huh? wow. that must be pretty sweet! I wanted to work on a crabbing boat. but its so dangerous.

I have plans on finding a job at a body shop. just making like 8.50$ an hr "Minimum wage in CA"

Ok so I know my truck has nothing new done to it lately, but I ran into an old friend who has this neighbor that rolled a 2003 2500 HD Chevy and is parting it out, well there is a 6.0 sitting in there and is selling it.
Well we talked about it for a few hours and he would let the engine and trans both go for 900$. Only thing is I don't know to much about engines, but I've noticed these engines seem to be good and popular. Oh it only has 43,xxx miles and is clean.

Re: '76 Chevy C-10 Build

6.0L is the way to go. Theyre reliable make great power and you can never beat fuel injection. 900 is cheap you should get it for your swb

Re: '76 Chevy C-10 Build

Yeah I am really considering buying it. The guy also has an 8.1L in the bed of the truck too lol.

Re: '76 Chevy C-10 Build

Hey guys I am having trouble and really need help with this, My father wont help me and he builds hot rods for a living "Jerk".
So this is the problem, I go to start my truck "just put 5 gallons in it after it died in my driveway" and it idles, but very odd idle, and when I press the gas it shoots flames out of the carb and dies. Whats wrong? My distributor cap isn't loose? It also died last night when I was revving it for my GF and wouldn't start "Thought it was out of gas"

So please, it is now my daily driver and I am going to be screwed if I can get this to work!

I did, I pulled the fuel filter off and put the hose in a cup, no fuel was coming out. So I am going to say bad fuel pump. Thank god they are cheap :)

Re: '76 Chevy C-10 Build

still that don't explain the backfire thourgh the carb ck timing issue

SevenSeries 04-07-2010 02:41 AM

Re: '76 Chevy C-10 Build

Oh well I figure that its from flooding it when pumping the carb with fuel? It might have been burning off the fuel. We will see how changing the fuel pump works, but I will check the timing just to be safe.
Will buy it tomorrow and get it installed.

Update: No pics yet, will be working on body this weekend, I got the fuel problem fixed, replaced fuel pump but didn't need to, my switch-in valve for dual tanks was stuck on the empty tank so no fuel was getting to the carburetor, filled them both and it fired right up :D

Re: '76 Chevy C-10 Build

Been a few months. Had no job at the time so wasn't able to do anything over a few months but got a job and starting to do things.
Updates:
*Filled passenger side fender and primerd it.
*Installed Stereo. 2 10in Bazooka subs, 1400w Amp, Dual Stereo. *will get specs on all of it*
*Building a new engine. 1966 327 with 2.02 Camelback heads. Going to be sweet! Will do more specs and pictures on all of this soon!
*Getting drop spindles 3in, and 2in lowering springs
*New cab. Roof on it is pretty beat up. Looks as if 4 fat men sat on her. :( Although there is ZERO RUST!

That is it for about now. This is all coming up within 2months :D

can you not pop the dents out?

cool truck man gonna keep those wheels or go rallys or something? I can relate to all your stories. Hows the 76 as your daily?

SevenSeries 06-20-2010 10:44 PM

Re: '76 Chevy C-10 Build

@ Caddy, Yeah I don't wanna smog the 76. It is a time saver honestly. Also expands my options :)

@oldblue. Ah just don't really feel like it. I mean might as well get a non smog year and a better condition cab?

You know I am not completely sure. I know for a fact new wheels. but not sure the style? I am drawn between a huge variaty and my father loves the drag looks. Since he has a 1957 chevy ext cab *Custom made himself* stepside with 15x18 in the back and a 396 under the hood haha.
