All totaled I have owned my current truck for 7 years now; was my High School daily driver/ burnout champ/ Fuzz magnet = my Dad sold it along with my '55 1/2 ton flat bed a year after i was in the Marines. I owned 2 other trucks a 66 GMC fleetside longbed, and a 63 GMC fleet long, until my brother found my old truck sitting in a field by his house. The guy still owned it my Dad sold it to, and had been through 2 motors in it. A deal was struck and I got the old girl back = hence the name ZVIETE (second in German). It is a driver/project (aren't they all??) and all around fun........ Good Thread!

Re: How long have you owned your truck?
[QUOTE=John Ragsdale;4683490]My wife and I bought our first new vehicle September, 1969--a 1970 Chevy C10, short bed, step-side, 250 cc in-line. On May 12, 2011, I installed the "Ignitor Electronic Ignition" and "Flame Thrower" coil. I ran the red wire from the "Ignitor" to inside the firewall behind the fuse block, spliced into the pink wire ahead of the resistor wire that goes to the coil. Now, when I turn my headlights on the running lights go off. Grounding problem?
Thanks, John[Fixed the problem. By the way, my son, daughter, nephew and his dad have all had their turn at either driving or owning this truck over the years before my wife wanted it back.:ennyd:] |

My '62 has been in my family since the mid-seventies when my first cousin Dan got her... it then went to his brother Raymond a little later. Ray sold it to my Uncle Wes in about 1979-80. Wes traded it to my brother Jimmy in '81. My brother drove it for about 18-19 years before giving it to me in early 2001. I have no plans at all of ever letting go of it... Here's pics(chronological) of the transformations throughout the years :chevy::chevy:

Re: How long have you owned your truck?
My Grandfather bought my truck from His brother in law in 1967. It has been owned by him (titled) since 1967 to 2014. I had to pay my sister 500 bucks for it, as he had given it to her. (it was more of a hostage situation as she didn't take care of it, and had left it in the backyard of her house with no cover on it, trash in the bed of the truck, and allowed her dogs to sleep in the cab, leaving HUGE amounts of hair everywhere in the process.)
Its a shame too. The title i had was issued by California in 1967. Such a small piece of paper too... |
