VA72C10, I went to the Chick-fil-A cruise across from Virginia Center Commons. Its close and I can take all back roads to get there. The truck is geared like a bulldozer so I don't wanna get on the interstate. An open 55mph road would be fine but not 70mph. As far as the paint I bought Rustoleum Flat White and Satin Black so I will always have a fresh can just up the street ;)

cool deal...and I understand not wanting to wind it up too much on an interstate. I think rattle can is great just for that reason!!!

I recognized that Chik Fil A cruise in right away, as well as most of the cars in the pic. Been there many times in the Vette, but I don't think i've ever taken the truck.

I'll try to make it to ALL the cruise nights before everyone hibernates for the winter. If you see me say HI!!

Oh...the inspection sticker? I'd have to agree with your buddies :D I scraped mine off since it was from 96 I believe....didn't want a reason for an officer to pull me over to check my expired sticker....

Re: Project Cheap Thrills!

Can't bring myself to do it. They can pull me and I'll tell them a sentimental story so sappy they'll have to let me go. I'm runnin NOS '67 tags too so I don't see too much trouble!!:chevy:

OldBlue, Check out the pic of the hood plug welds...it 5/98. Its not too old but it was the last year the truck was on the road before I took possesion. I like it and unless Mr. Crimestopper has a HUUUGE problem with it then it will stay put. It would have to be court ordered and thats how I feel about it. The Judge would have to tell me that it needs to be removed!

So...any updates?

Re: Project Cheap Thrills!

Slow going but yeah. I put a painted plywood bed in it and Im trying to square up the bed to get the gate to fit right. Just got front lowering springs so hopefully I'll be hitting you up for the rear stuff.
I'll take some pics and do a real update tomorrow.

Re: Project Cheap Thrills!

I haven't posted anything in a couple of days because things are slow going. I wanna show my progresss on the bed and the problems. This is the tailgate that was included with the truck. After I installed bed floor I wanted to fit the gate only to find that the bed wasn't close to square and now the bed wont latch. I was able to push the passenger side of the bed forward but I have to figure out how to move the driver's side back as far as it wants to go to make it square. BTW, if you look at the top picture you'll notice how high the bed was raised by adding he 3/4" plywood. The two tone seperation was above the bed so I didn't have to run it around the top of the bed, now that its raised I have to correct that.

Heres some more pics from the last few weeks. I ran into a guy with a slick '57 Oval at the cruises and we now find each other and park them beside each other. These are CPP 3" front springs I got from Frkypunk70. My first bonafide hot rod parts for the truck. I'm gathering the parts here and there to get it lowered ASAP.

Good progress...

Nice oval! Looking forward to parking next to you guys sometime :D

Hopefully the Hot Rod Mechanic will give you some money for the other parts ;)

Re: Project Cheap Thrills!

Thanks! The Hot Rod Mechanic got busy real quick and my not have a lot of time to work on his own stuff now!!

VA72C10 09-24-2011 12:25 PM

Re: Project Cheap Thrills!

I hear you on being busy....but the good thing is you'll get $$$ for parts and you could always turn down work if you got too busy ;)
