Two nice Dumps, Tim. You're right, they are '67's, but also could be '66's. Strange there is no Cab Lights again on the white GMC. Could be a very early factory picture. By the emblem it looks like it has a Toro-Flow V-6 Diesel.

Bill

You're right. The sexy new truck body style was first introduced in '66 with the HD truck line. The red one was an ad that said it was a '67 and that white one is on a GMC sales promotion post card for '67 models. I have 5 in a set. Only two are pickups (1500 & 2500w/camper). Let me see if I can take a picture of the other two cuz one is a dump truck and the pther...well,you're gonna love it!

Sure do. Great example of an early Long Nose. Has the Chrome Package too and noticed the optional "Triple Horns" on the roof. Standard Air Horns are pretty loud, but I sure would love to hear a blast of those!!

Thanks for the compliment. We've got alot of old 2-ton trucks around here.

Leonard1 what about old 1-ton trucks of chevy 1967

Re: Dump Truck Picture Thread

Suprisingly few 1-ton trucks in this area. Lots of farms around here, and people use the 2-ton trucks to haul grain.

Re: Dump Truck Picture Thread

One Ton trucks around here are starting to get back to a more normal level, but for a while were pretty hard to find. It was the popular choice for hauling Pulp Wood. Our local Pulp Wood Yard took wood in 4 or 5 Ft lengths which they loaded on both sides of Flat Bed Railroad cars. Guys would just take a SWB-DRW 1-Ton, take off the bed, weld up some standards (front and back) and load up the wood right on the chassis rails. After a couple of years or more of this type of work, especially with all the off road use in the woods, these trucks were beat and mainly only good for parts. The yard closed about 10 years ago.

Heres some pictures of my 71 after I sandblasted ,primed and painted the frame and dump hoist from the cab back. Also put new wood in the stake body bed.Getting ready to put the new cab on soon,I will sand blast and paint the rest of the frame then.;) The date stamp says 04 but it was really 2 almost 3 years since the frame got done.

Thats really great old Chevy guy and do you still have the truck

Re: Dump Truck Picture Thread

Yes,still have it,getting ready to put the red cab in the last picture on it. The original cab is pretty rough and the roof is badly rotted on the inside behind the visors .The red one has some rot in that same area but not nearly as bad. I put rockers floors ,front floor supports and cab corners on it already as well as fixed a few holes around the back window. Alls that is left is two small holes behind the visors and part of one gutter to repair and then Im ready to paint it inside and out and upside down with the aid of the car tissery we built last Summer. Makes the cab repairs a lot easier and I can roll it in and out so I can use the lift in the shop for repairs on the other cars as needed.

This one belongs to a friend of mine. It has had some electrical issues so he hasn't used it for a while.

Looks like a Fisher Plow on the front. I used to drive a '67 GMC 1-Ton Dump with a Plow. It had snow tires on the back and we would fill the bed with sand before heading out to plow. The truck never spun once in all the times I drove it and was just a 2-Wheel Drive like your Dad's truck above.

Your right it is a Fisher plow only brand my dad will buy....and we would load it with wood and cover it for weight..never had trouble getting around.

Three nice heavy trucks, but I remember the green one in the first picture when it was advertised for sale. It has an Allison Automatic in it. Real nice truck though with real nice sheet metal. I believe it has a 3208 Cat in it. Those engines became a little more popular in the later years.

Re: Dump Truck Picture Thread

Wrong year but I had to put it in. It was GIVEN to me by my brother in law. He said it had not run in a couple of years since he quit farming. I sent my nephew to get it [about 50miles] he cleaned the m/c and put on a hot battery and drove it home. All the lights work, the horn worksand the radio comes on but the speaker is busted. The bed goes up and down like new. I am gonna cut down one side and park it out by my shop and throw scrap metal on it from wreck teardowns. When I get close to a load I'll drive it to the scrap iron place and dump it out. Oh yeah, it only has 29,374 miles

Re: Dump Truck Picture Thread

Thanks Bill, but it needs a hood, left fender and front bumper and grill stuff. My brother in law's dad bumped someone with it right before they quit using it. I wish my 68 and 2 70's short beds had been this clean. It has been in a tractor shed[as are most of the c40-60's around here] until the last yeaer when it got moved outside
