So more or less I would need this kit and:

To make the sheetmetal mounting plate
Speedometer itself
Individually wire the gauges
Apply the gauge face
Paint the lens

Am I missing anything?

That's the long and short of it, yes. You will also need a certain amount of patience! This is do-able, but isn't just a couple hour job. It takes some fiddeling with it to get everything just right.

Ok, anybody who wants one, send me a PM and I'll respond with payment options. I'm going to go to the printer tomorrow and put in my order so he can get to work on them, but like I said, it will probably be a week or so before I get them.

Also, I wanted to comment on the being "besieged by posts for help" comment. I will help everyone with any problems you may encounter when doing this, but all the questions will have to be posted in this thread. That way if somebody else has the same question, it's in the thread and anyone can see it.

THey are actually out of a '65 chevy. They are sockets that ground to the tin, just like the heater control light in a '67-'72.

How do you go about getting the original numbers off the gauge face before you painted the new ones on? Sanded or what? Thanks.

No sanding necessary, just polish them off with a soft rag (I use an old t shirt) and some Mothers aluminum wheel polish. Takes a little rubbing but its not hard to do at all.

What did you have to have done as far as a tune to get it to read properly?

Couple of questions:
1.) what kind/brand of paint is it you are using to airbrush the stencil?
2.) Is that a factory or aftermarket tach you are using? Did you have to modify it to work on an LS motor?
3.) any chance you have a wiring diagram of what you made?
Thanks for sharing this modification.

Just the basic tune stuff you would do to get any speedometer to read correct. You set your rear gear ratio, and tire size. Any tuner should be able to do this.

Thanks for sharing this modification.

1) I used some old Testors model car paint I've had for years, it's a mixture of green and white
2) It's an aftermarket tach, you just need to set the tach resolution from 6 to 3 in the tune. This doubles the signal sent to the tach since LS motors puit out a 4 cylinder tach signal.
3) I can make a diagram, but basically I just wired it like the printed circuit, with a few changes, like the voltmeter rather than the ammeter.

So what did you do for the gage face? Or is it an aftermarket repop of an original?

Yes, it's just a repop of an original, nothing fancy needed to make the tach work.
