Came across it online a few days ago while doing some research for parts. I dont know where or when it was taken. Id hate to actually see all those classics piled up like that in person. There has to be more in parts than scrap. Just a quick glance shows cadillacs, mustangs, a 48-55 chevy truck, t-birds and a ton more.

Re: Some 60-66s chevys in my dads Junkyard.

When I was a little kid in the 1950's there was a scrap metal yard somewhere near Richmond California right against the shoreline. The yard had vintage cars from the 20's and 30's stacked front to back about 10 high (not crushed) and the pile went on for miles as we drove by on the highway. Even as a kid I was bummed that all those old cars were just being ruined. Later in the decade all the old cars disappeared and the same yard had tens of thousands of old tires stacked in the same place. The smell was horrible because there was a perpetual tire pile being burned, back before it became illegal. I sure wish I had been old enough to have taken some pictures of all those old cars before they went to scrap.

Holy cow you're a lucky man with a great father. Hug that man every day and give him a steak dinner!

Now, assuming you find a guy camped out among all those classics with a very wide, silly grin on his face just let me - er...him be. He's just browsing in old truck heaven.

Where do you see the Mustangs? The newest car I can find in the stack is the 63 T-Bird.

Hey yall sorry haven't been able to get on in a while. those pics of the old scrap yards makes me sick. hear at my yard we try to save every old car we can. and if we do scrap anything it is striped of everything. yards like ours are dieing. just a few miles down the road was a old yard. full of 50s cars. know they are all gone. we try to save what we can from the shredder. but with high scrap prices the old stuff is getting gone. maybe sometime i can get some pictures of the cars we have if yall are interested.

I Got another truck the other day. and loads and loads of parts. here is some pictures. the truck is a 61 bbw cab from a big truck on a long bed frame with a short bed. their is a gas tank mounted under the bed that fits perfectly around the spair. I also got a bunch of hoods and more i didnt get pictures of.

Is it just me, or does this look like a 64-66 shortbed?

I would guess (and hope) this is an old photo. Like early 70's. I couldn't imagine anyone crushing this many old cars now, and certainly not having nothing in the pile but older cars.

I went out and visited Hawks last weekend and purchased some e-brake stuff a grill and some west-coast mirrors.Wished I had more dough, cuz I still need more stuff....Hawks was a great guy to deal with...parts are reasonable...I could have spent all day in there,There's sumthin bout a junkyard....

Re: Some 60-66s chevys in my dads Junkyard.

To some people, all of the pictures of the trucks in the yard and all the parts laying around would be considered junk.....I see treasure!

I would grab the forklift and start getting that place organized. I would start lining them up and sorting them out by brand. I honestly believe that you guys could make a bunch of cash AND get a lot of the members here handled by providing them with parts. In the pictures, I see a lot of items that you'll never find in the average wrecking yard.
