Re: '63 Model B
Thanks for the interest. Been busy with paying jobs and haven't made as much progress as I'd like, but I have been working on some of the less glamorous (is ANY of it really?) parts of the project. Started shaping the bed sides and I'll try and get some pictures up later.

Re: '63 Model B
I finally have had some time to work on this pos and spent even more time researching how to use the photobucket app.
I don't know how interesting they are but I took quite a few pictures of the rear fender in progress. While not too complex, these fenders are so large and awkward I decided to make them in 4 pieces. Step 1; cutting out and marking the blank for shrinking http://i1292.photobucket.com/albums/...ps58afcc4b.jpg Using the arbor press with thumbnail dies I made I start a round of shrinks using the grid that's laid out. http://i1292.photobucket.com/albums/...psb12df15f.jpg This is what it looks like as it starts to take shape http://i1292.photobucket.com/albums/...psb7ee41c7.jpg With some wheeling and wrestling with it the shape starts to look like intended http://i1292.photobucket.com/albums/...ps8949b9e4.jpg Comparison of two pieces, one with shrinks only and one shrunk and wheeled. http://i1292.photobucket.com/albums/...ps88308e4a.jpg Posted via Mobile Device Posted via Mobile Device Posted via Mobile Device |

More pics-
Two pieces become one http://i1292.photobucket.com/albums/...pscf794c43.jpg Close up of weld joint http://i1292.photobucket.com/albums/...psec9e13f3.jpg Folding the edge. Done with a small crescent wrench. I just open the jaws as much as necessary to easily slip onto the metal, figure out the depth I want, and wrap some tape around the jaws at that depth and bend a few degrees per pass. Takes 4 or 5 passes for a 90 degree bend. http://i1292.photobucket.com/albums/...ps5cc25617.jpg Adding the other pieces. Here you can see the weld seams. http://i1292.photobucket.com/albums/...ps59c9e89e.jpg Posted via Mobile Device Posted via Mobile Device |
