Re: Green trucks
I am 95% sure that is a factory green white color combination for 1972.
the paint is newer so it shines real well and just a little brighter due to it being new. seeing you have your front end off could you look at the inside of your left front frame and the brake line junctions for me? if so I'll tell you what i am looking for. mine has had all the steel brake lines changed over it's 40 years, i have a new kit and a couple location questions and fitting questions. where the 2 lines from the diverter valve (master cylinder) meet inside the frame is my question area. |
Re: Green trucks
i still have the factory lines as far as i know and could take pictures for you, im changing all mine over to 79 half ton brakes:) disc brakes baby!!

Re: Green trucks
great! take a pic of the lines where they all meet inside the left front frame,
should be a tee at the line from the diverter to the 2 front brakes, one heading each way up and down the frame. another junction from the diverter line that connects right there too for the rear brakes, i cant figure out if the rear brake line has a 90 or just a straight union where they join. i haven't installed all the lines yet, but i have them all figured out where they go. i dont really want to start until i have everything needed. Thanks! |

Re: Green trucks
my apologies, i just realized i was calling the proportion valve a diverter valve.
I'm sure you knew what i was asking for though. 72's and hydraulic brakes are not field of expertise. I work on big trucks and heavy equipment for a living. |

Re: Green trucks
what that is is a 1972 2WD cab on a 71 1/2 ton 4WD chassis.
it has a Sky Jacker 8" lift kit, front in the pic is a 4:88 ratio Dana 44, rear is a 4:88 GM 14 bolt with lincoln lockers. there both brand new internals. it had a manual valve body TH350 with a 3800 stall converter, now a regular TH350 with a 205 transfer case and a 2200 stall converter. it had no motor, i built up a 10.7 CR aluminum head 355 with a 488 lift hydraulic cam, through the 3" exhaust it is loud, it dumps out in front of the rear tires. sounds good to me! I have 2 new drive axles ready to install, changing it to 3:73, both are 8 lug GM, 10 bolt front, 14 rear with regular spider gears. Tires are Mickey Thompson 35 17.5 15 one of Baja claw models. it was built for a dune truck by the 2 previous owners, i have been changing it back to a street use truck. i have been working on it every spare minute i get. i have just under 10 grand in it now. i think I'm OK. |

Green trucks huh? can this one play? The guy that owns this truck said he would let me have it for the rite price. Not going to say rite now but thinking heavily on it.It does run and drive and the winches work. I have run this truck on a couple big truck wrecks a couple years ago when I was working there. We had 5 big truck accidents within 3 weeks of each other .It helped on all of them with no problems..It was geared quicker than the other truck but it done its share also.

Renokeene, this is for you. Dad bought this 1971 C20 Custom Camper longhorn new, when he passed away I got it, about 4.5 years ago. It's dark olive, and mostly original. I'm trying to take care of it by fixing, replacing, cleaning, etc, but dad took really good care of it, so my job is minor, though expensive at times. The radio knobs have been replaced w originals. Enjoy the pics. For those who have seen this truck, sorry for the repeat.
Does anyone have pics of Option Code 629 Olive cloth trim? the upholstery is not original (I think someone on here called it scottish highlander tartan plaid wanna be, ha ha ah ) |
