Thanks Scott. I plan on putting a little more time and effort into this one because I'm not planning on getting rid of it any time soon. I've been looking for a Panel for toooo long. LockDoc |

Your choice will surely work fabulously for the rear or both! Very cool mods that were done by the PO ... they should save a lot of time, fabrication and $$$, and give the project a nice theme already started by someone with good vision! PS---love the color. Would be quite cool in a "pearl" version of that. A pal had a "buff" colored 67-72 and it fit great with the body style and era. Have fun! Ellen . |

Thanks Ellen. I'm just thinking on the rear. I will have to check out the VW's. The wife and I were just talking about color last night. The Kia Soul's have some nice looking colors. like the "Acid Green", "Green Tea Latte", "Latte Brown", and the "New Vanilla Shake". I may play around with Photo Shop one of these days....:) LockDoc |

I've always loved greens, especially the ones leaning to mossy, army or soft green. Not sure about the Acid green but the green tea is quite OK in my book. I DO like the Vanilla Shake. It would give you much more latitude in interior choices. Guess I steer towards the muted...which you have chosen... but, in my mind, with some pearl to give it that extra POW! your new rig deserves. Our trucks have such great, classic looks, it's nice to highlight that in a paint that shows off its sexy bodylines. This thread is fun! :D E |

Sounds like a reverse Coca-Cola truck Leon. I think they did them this way for seasonal stuff. That could be cool too!

Well, I’ve been making a little progress on the Panel. I decided to go with an LS1/4l60e setup for it. I have the engine/trans in the shop and have the wiring stripped of the unneeded wires. I removed the front clip from the Panel yesterday and chiseled out the manual transmission cross member. I also moved the engine outside and started cleaning it. Today I finished cleaning up the engine and got all of the heavy dirt and grease off of the engine bay frame rails. I also removed the steering column, steering box, instrument cluster, dash pad, under dash air unit, heater controls, and the inside and outside heater boxes. Some of the pictures I took didn’t come out so I will have to re-take them tomorrow. LockDoc |

I do almost everything by myself and I have a little incline into the shop, so here is how I get the non-running vehicles into the shop by myself. I set a “D” ring into the floor and tether a small winch to it. That way I can just winch the vehicles up the incline and into the shop. Rosie thinks this is Purrrrrfect….:) LockDoc |
Re: I Picked This Up Yesterday
Leon, I see you have notched the pass side frame rail to clear the A/C compressor. Just how much did you have to cut out?
|
Re: I Picked This Up Yesterday
I took a closer look at the photo and realized that is the factory bend in the frame rail. But, you will have to notch the frame rail to clear the A/C, won't you?

Bob, I think it depends on where I set the engine, front to back and what frame mounts I use. I am going to set the engine in and check things out in the next week or so. Luckily I have a full range of choices on frame mounts. I have I6, V-8, '69-'71 big block, '72 big block, and '73 up mounts to choose from. I will post here which ones work the best for me when I get to that point. LockDoc |
Re: I Picked This Up Yesterday
Nice work! You're moving right along.
|
Re: I Picked This Up Yesterday
Your panel looks awesome.
Man I thought I moved along at a pretty good clip on the weekends. You Sir and Movvvvvving. I applaud your choice of motor. I have a 07 LS-2 crate motor in my 67 Chevelle and love it, especially since I opened it up a couple months ago & put a nasty cam in it. Thinking LS-1 eventually in my 67 Shortbed Dually. I will keep watch on your steady progress. |

Thanks Guys. I will have a little slow down for the next few days. I go in for some minor surgery tomorrow. I should still be able to get some light work done during recovery. I have a lot of small stuff to clean & paint. LockDoc |
Re: I Picked This Up Yesterday
Leon, nice work. I hope all goes well in surgery tomorrow!

Re: I Picked This Up Yesterday

Glad your surgery went well and take care for those 2 weeks .

Re: I Picked This Up Yesterday
God, Leon! You almost gave a me a heart attack! I started reading your response to Oldertruckfan without reading his quote, and when I read your response, (I thought you were talking about your surgery) "Thanks, I have always liked louvers but this is the first..........", I thought "What the hell did he go and do to himself?" :dohh: I'll have to be more careful in the future and read things thoroughly.

Re: I Picked This Up Yesterday
I am always amazed at your truck finds :metal:
That Panel is indeed a keeper |
