Dan,
Sorry to have kicked the pedestal you had me on but there is no way I would attempt this on anything with out power. I'm pretty sure the HF buffer will need new brushes when this truck is done! There is sooooo much dirt in the paint. I've washed it, clay bared it, city the paint with a wool bonnet and buffed it with cleaner wax! I still will need to use straight wax on it or I may spray it with clear, I can't decide. It's alot of work to get it looking decent. I hate to have wasted the effort in 6 weeks.

Take my advise and use a good quality Clearcoat on it...

I've never done it before so this was my first attempt at it on an original
paint truck. I'll get a picture of what I used. I'm no expert for sure but it worked pretty good... I think.

Here is what I used!
1. Number 2 with a wool bonnet to cut the oxidation and clean the paint for waxing. This took a while and a few applications to clean the junk off the paint.
2. I also experimented with a clay bar too and used it after the wool bonnet to get anything still left on the truck before waxing it.
3. I used foam pads for the number 6 and did 2 applications one with a medium foam bonnet and then wit a very soft foam bonnet.
4. (I have not done this yet)
I'll be finishing it off with the number 9 swirl remover. Not sure that's the best path but it seem to be working so far.

Well it's been a lot of late nights for me this week!
We got almost all the accessories on the motor and its ready for mounting on Sat! I still need to find a correct p/s pulley for this setup..I'm doing a wtb ad for the one I need. Here's a pic of the tranny while tore apart. I cleaned it up and Sam surprised me and ground down the seam on top that goes the entire length.
It's not painted yet but its very clean and smooth! Seems like a Shame to cover up all that work we did smoothing it all out.
Someone needs to remind me its not a show car... every day... I'm wasting time!

It's a TH350 we were going to reseal it but after closer inspection and realizing I didn't want to get under this truck again. Sam decided it's easier to get the rebuild parts and do it correctly so I wouldn't have issues (and he wouldnt hvae to rebuild it) in the future. Lol
Tonight ill post pics of it painted and hooked up to the motor (I hope).
