Thinking of trying to clean up the dash a little with CLR or something. Or should I just leave it well enough alone?

Re: My 59 Bug
I would drive it just the way it is!

Re: My 59 Bug
Nice! Makes me miss my 58, 64, 67, 66 bus, 65 squareback... yeah I was a VW nut many years ago. However back when I was into bugs in the early 80's I use to pick them up for under 1000, fix them, and sell them for 2500 max.
Great find, please don't mess it up! |

Its been over a year since I've posted here but theres nothing new. I did tag it up and drive it around town some. I worked on the turn signals with no success yet. I'll drive it anyway. It cranked right up the other day tho. Still liking it.

Well its been a while I know. I've still been working 7 days a week so not much time to do anything on anything. I did manage to get a new dog Jack. He a 3 legged Jack Russell that is full of energy. He also likes the bug. Since I've been working so much I've decided to take the the bug to someone for some work. I know a lot of you guys watch pickers and have seen their bug/bus purchases. They have used J-3 for their stuff so I thought I'd try them. I took my bug to J-3 restorations for some work. I haven't heard anything yet so we'll see.

I got my bug back from Rich at J-3. It got a rebuilt 1600 from Brothers in California. Been putting a few miles on it since then.

I've almost put 500 miles on it and then it'll go back to Rich at J-3 for a valve adjustment and oil change for his warranty purposes.

I missd this thread until now. I love your '59 just the way you have it. I've had a few but it's been years. My first car and first restoration was a '56 I had from '71-'81. I gave it to my dad to use with the agreement that I got first dibs when he got rid of it. He let my sister start diving it, she meets a guy she marries, and he has her sell it because it wasn't safe. Put her in a lifted CJ5 . I think there was some macho BS going on there. Anyway, it was bought by someone who took it back to Germany. No chance of getting my 1st love back, but still pretty neat.
I hope you don't mind me showing a picture. This is straight out of the barn at my folks' where it was stored while I lived in CA. That's Mercedes Blue with 10 coats of barn dust |
