Well I was hoping to beat the rain but I lost. I finished oiling framework and got some of the aluminum back on. Spent too long trying to figure out the window openings issue.

Thanks. I was tired of waiting for a shortbed shell to pop up. I’m sure right when I finish I will run across a shortbed version.

Today I finally put on the kyb shocks I got last week. Made a big difference. They are way softer so little more body roll but smoother ride overall.

I picked up some paneling from near Joplin to fix my window gap issue. I actually like the condition and diamond pattern. I also got really lucky it was the right height to slide right into the old spot. Just cut some openings for little windows. I stripped the white and brown panels to get them ready to polish.

I put the front and side window in today. Should of finished it but had to checkout some parts near me. Went to get 67 knobs but left with dash and manual column. Pumped on gauge bezel cause it has no cracks and it has manual throttle knob which is cool.

Finally got the shell on last night. I made some mounts that bolt in the stake pockets. Need to make a back door , insulation, and cover up insulation paneling but at least it’s on.

Well the highway didn’t like my camper I guess. Little hole appeared on my way to Kansas and by the time I got home it was flapping all over. I bought some polycarbonate for the top. I guess I’ll have a 6’x6’ sunroof in the top now. Bought some S.S. buttons for a cover so it doesn’t melt my bike in the back. On the lookout for a piece of leather I can afford to match the brown on the side. Also tig welded back door frame together. Just need to grab latch and trim pieces I found. Cool gmc I saw near Kansas.

Put the polycarbonate pieces on for the sunroof. Open for ideas on a good brown material for button down cover? Not really sure what will hold up but I need something so I don’t melt the tires off my bike in the bed.

Well like most projects, it’s taking way longer than expected. I thought I would get bags on both sides then drive to skatepark tonight. Instead I’m taking tomorrow off work to finish. Breaking ball joint free was difficult, then had to grind a flat spot on ball joint to hold with locking pliers to remove castle nut. Learned to pin cross shaft up in place on pin before you try to put u-bolts in. Hard to find a grommet for airline that’s got a 3/16 slot for cross member. Funny stuff was the ball joint that just fell out of arm it was so loose and coil spring that had a coil broke off it in cup.

Well the airbags feel amazing in the front. I had to re-sew one side of the tonneau cover to get a 1/4” more stretch. Stretching it onto buttons was rough. I like how tight she is but we’ll see if it handles the highway since I’ll be putting 2500 miles on it in the next couple weeks. Hopefully I’ll figure out how to dye it the same brown as the sides.

I’ve been scrambling to get my truck ready for a trip from Springfield, MO to Atlantic City then Pittsburgh then York then State College then south through Louisville and back to Springfield. 2 weeks before I left I put front airbags on. Weekend before I left I switched rearend to a open 3.07 from 3.73 posi. Sunburnt left arm plus crazy heat wave with no A/C was fun. Camper tonneau cover held up but one of the wooden supports broke. Debris on the highway punched a little hole in the camper aluminum. I fixed it for the time being with jb weld. Through Indiana I got 21 mpg. I got to go to the Columbus Goodguys show, which was amazing to see that quality of work/money. Got to ride some fun skateparks. Also went off tossing to a campsite one night and scalped the ground for awhile. Sleeping in the camper when the feel like temperatures were 110 is like a oven. I fixed the wing window for my girl but by the end of the trip both windows were struggling hard to wind up. Also all the bumps loosened up the screw that holds my turn signal on. Which meant at random times (in traffic) my lever would ground out my horn which was awkward. I went with the theory that if I brought tools then I would have issues so I only brought some line wrenches. Amazing times out there remember these trucks are meant to be driven to enjoy. Finished off with doing a bike show in Houston MO.

Looks like a good time!

Cut up my leftovers from building camper and old bedside junk from when I put wood floor in. Then I disassembled some donor doors that will be going on once I fix some rough spots. At least with original paint the bad stuff isn’t hiding below 1/4” of bondo. Here’s some fitment pictures of the aluminum I bead rolled for the camper. Trying to start working hard to get my truck ready for Dino’s Get Down in November.

Scalped the top of my thumb today at work but it gave me a excuse to make these kick panels for my truck instead of finishing the 38’ Ford. Hides rust and matches my camper sides.

Made some rough aluminum panels to cover the holes in the cowl. Painted the underneath silver to kinda match the raw body. Cowl is basically done for now but there’s plenty of crevices I can get later. Somebody welded a real classy patch over the antenna area which I’m real curious about.

Painted the kick panels the golden Fawn color the interior will be. Also tore apart the heater controls and cut off everything that wasn’t necessary. Glued the knobs in place then painted it black how 67’ should be. Doing the same idea with the radio since I’m not using it either. I like the idea of more space under the dash plus any weight savings I’m into.
