That's cool. I wasn't annoyed. Just patching up my blunder. I realize IL gets down there pretty south. And I know things seem to survive better in MO and AR than back here, so maybe they do survive better there. The way they rusted here I just figured anywhere but the bone dry areas of the west they were shot by now. Heck 67-72s are showing up with rust in some of those areas even.

Its ussually bone dry, but we get snow, so if your road dept. decides to put salt on, then it rusts, my buddies 09 dodge has more rust than my 69 chevy, why? the answer is simple, SALT, why dosent my dads 06 chevy have rust? it gets drove more than the 09, well that is simple to, he dont let the salt stay, so it tont rust. Salt+water+truck going down the road @55mph= RUST

Salt won't likely ruin a car as much as we think, it takes alot of time before the salt will actually start to accelerate rusting issues. If proper care is taken into effect and frequent washing then it is very unlikely that salt is going to have such an effect. You have to care for more of the vehicle than just the surface that you see. Moisture and oxygen is what causes rust.

Kinda hard to wash rust out when water freezes before it runs off. You can't leave your hose out and spigots freeze. You wash out at the car wash and get salt sprayed up splashing through puddles of salt laden melt water on the way home. Water puddles because it can't run off due to snow banks along the road. This goes on for days, weeks, even months at a time. I've been around a while. If there was a way to prevent rust on vehicles driven in salt I would be the one telling you how.
